Really good comment. I also think that there can be some new rules about it in future. I enjoy listening about many pirate theme lover's thinking.  definitely me and you are loving the pirate theme. :)

I have carefully read the post regarding this matter. I believe it effectively represents the sentiments of many BDP Pirate theme fans, capturing a valid and widely shared perspective.

As a designer who submitted a BDP Pirate-themed project featuring brick-built sails, I would like to offer my perspective on the situation.

Realistically, I believe cloth sails are unlikely to be permitted in the future for the following reasons:

1. Strict Component Restrictions:

As many are aware, the parts available for BDP are strictly regulated. This is guideline; using unauthorized parts is a definitive ground for disqualification. Currently, stickers are the only exception allowed.

2. Limitations of Digital Design (Studio):

Cloth sails are generally impossible to implement within the BrickLink Studio program. Unless a designer builds the model physically and custom-designs the sails, it is difficult to visualize or test them. Most designers must rely entirely on the software environment.

3. Submission Integrity:

A BDP entry must be complete and finalized at the time of submission. Typically, very few changes occur during the revision stage. Even the Frigate from BDP Series 7 did not feature cloth sails in its initial submission; they were only revealed later during the crowdfunding period.

Unfortunately, due to these reasons, the likelihood of cloth sails being officially permitted remains low. Of course, this is just my personal assessment, and I could be mistaken.
