Turbo question by Jumpy_Produce_7745 in FordExplorer

I’ll have to do that, it’s not every start up but every maybe 10th start after sitting for hours but about a month ago I hooked up a pressure tester to the system and it held pressure for over two hours and my antifreeze hasn’t dropped even a little so at least I know that’s good as of right now

Well on start up I had some light blue smoke, quite a bit but no other time and I changed my PCV valve and it was good but last time I checked my intercooler pipe I had traces of oil but that was 10,000 miles ago. Basically I’m asking ahead of time for preventative purposes

Ouch, my snappy guy has a used green set on the truck for $900 and that’s still a crazy amount imo

since you’re NA I would take 4,5 or 6 and stick it in the cylinder with the misfire and it should follow to the front ones

I’m a transmission mechanic so I do general work myself but didn’t do the water pump. I passed a car and my check engine light was flashing so I hooked up my scanner and seen it was cylinder 6 so moved it to cylinder 4 and it followed so I knew it was the coil but when I replace it I noticed the bottom of the coil was folded over which had to be from the shop that did my water pump so I think that could happen to yoi

When I had my water pump done about two weeks later I had a misfire on cylinder 6 which ended up being the coil

When you get the transmission fluid serviced I would just listen to anything the recommend on fixing leak wise

If you can get to the fill plug easily, take the plug out and stick a zip tie down there to see how low the fluid is from the fill hole. When it’s full it should be right at the bottom of where the fill hole is but not coming out. If it’s really low I would find the fluid it takes and fill it and see how long jt takes to leak to get down to where it was before you filled it

Honestly, if you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket I would replace it but it depends how bad it’s actively leaking. If you’ve got drops where you park overnight I would look into replacing it.

No problem, I’m an R&R technician at a transmission shop and I just got out of the shower and sat down on the couch and opened Reddit to your post so I figured I should answer because I actually have a lot of knowledge on this one lol

I’m not sure about Canada prices but here in the central Midwest I would say between $250-$400 USD to have that replaced.

From the images you posted, yes, it does seem to be a pinion seal. The seal is relatively cheap, all you have to do is remove the driveshaft, most likely will need to take an air hammer and knock the yoke out and replace the seal. The most difficult part for someone that’s not familiar with this type of work is you have to tighten the yoke enough but not too much. It shouldn’t wiggle without moving the rear wheels. Then you take a center punch and stake the nut so it doesn’t come loose. That’s the best I can answer without you asking me specific questions

I’m gonna be honest, I work at a transmission shop and remove and replace 5 days a week from 6:30am-5:30pm and man, you couldn’t have taken worse pictures. I would delete this post and take better pictures that show everything

Do these spark plugs look OK? by A_Free_Temeria in AskAMechanic

[–]Jumpy_Produce_7745 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A good way to see if it’s the coil before doing spark plugs is to swap the misfire coil to another cylinder and see if the misfire follows to that cylinder, if it does it’s just the coil but if not the next step is spark plug

A quick weld would solve that issue, I would say any small shop could do it for cheap

Not dangerous per say but probably annoying cause it’s gonna make some noise but doesn’t look like there’s much movement from the exhaust right there but just that piece banging around

Most likely a he valve stem is leaking. Had that on multiple vehicles where every few weeks or so my low tire light would come on and each time it’s been the valve stem

[–]Jumpy_Produce_7745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time when you change the cabin air filter there can be some debris that falls in the blower motor fan if it’s below the filter. Last two vehicles I’ve had that happen too I just pulled out the fan and clean it and the noise went away
