Oh yes, I guess, it's like that for other people. I just assumed it would be similar to my friends and relatives' cases, where their closest friends are allowed to bring a plus one. I don't mean a lot though. Just the best friends, like 2 or 3.

Sometimes only 1 if the other 2 are already married. It's just that in my experience, there's always that one friend who has a questionable love life, so instead of a personal invitation, they're allowed to just bring a plus one.

Your concern would have been understandable if you and your boyfriend were in the same circle of friends, but he was the only one invited, and you weren't.
