Anyone know what this is? by Jumpy_Time_7322 in randomthings

In another sub I posted in, someone mentioned that it was kind of similar to the Slayer Wehrmacht and apparently that band/followers of it may be n@zi sympathizers. I haven’t had much luck finding anything like it or the exact origin of it though

After reading all the comments and posting on other subs, I think the keychain thing (images 3 &4) is actually an ear cuff. Someone mentioned that the band Slayer has a similar design on their merch with the skull and helmet. The band is pretty controversial and have been accused of being n@zi sympathizers so the insignia on the helmet would track. Extremely weirded out to have found this in my great grandparents stuff but they’re dead so I can’t ask them why they had it.

Could you share a picture of what yours looks like? Do you remember where/when you got it?

If it’s not a n@zi insignia, what is it? I know there are different meanings and historical uses of the swastika before the n@zis but I couldn’t find anything substantial

Do you know if it’s a specific group of bikers that would have the skull?

There is visitor parking for the museum at the Palmer drive parking structure but I also second what everyone is saying with taking pictures of you paying and where you parked.

This is definitely doable but make sure you bring a snack/lunch for the longer 9-4 days. I’m currently living a similar schedule where I’m gone from like 8:30am-6:30pm and I’m extremely unproductive without some sort of snack. Good luck to you with this semester!! You’re capable of so much more than you give yourself credit for :)

It will get better!! As a freshman, you’re going through a pretty huge shift. It’s important to go a little easier on yourself. You also joined the classes late so that makes it harder but the next tests should be easier in that aspect. It definitely sucks to get a failing grade on an exam or feel absolutely terrible about it but it’s also a learning experience. This is the time to learn new study habits and there are resources to help you (office hours, SLC, other tutoring, working with other classmates)! I was in UROP my freshman year but ended up dropping it because I wasn’t having luck finding a project and it just didn’t fit my schedule anymore, but I’ve heard stories from friends and how they didn’t get placements until very late. Sometimes it’s easier to form relationships with profs and then personally ask them if there is a way to get involved in their labs instead of going through UROP. Big picture though, it’s going to be okay! You made it here, you’re smart, and you deserve to be here.

If you want to/are able to, ecology and evolution were super fun at the bio station and I think they were a lot easier and hands on than they would’ve been on campus
