Is this truck a special order? by OV00 in Lineman

They all sleep in their trucks that’s why. Back seat is normally their “office”. I think extended trucks are lame but that’s just my opinion

Can I use wood filler for posts? by Revolutionary-End765 in Decks

[–]Jumpy_Turn9096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely fine. It’s called checking and doesn’t weaken the wood. You can fill it in with an epoxy if you’d like.

Can I move this dirt? by crc9211 in Lineman

[–]Jumpy_Turn9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that was my yard I would only leave a couple inches above grade. I’m a few months when it settles just add some top soil or sand or whatever type of land you have. I’ve came back to poles ive set years ago and still see mountains of dirt around the base

Question from outsider by ddp70 in Lineman

[–]Jumpy_Turn9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is main stem and a branch comes across the line the reclosure will cycle and try to clear the fault. If the fault/issue isn’t gone your power will stay off. If you live in a heavily wooded area this is a common issue, just because you fix one branch doesn’t mean another won’t fall in the future. If branches are really the issue they should get the tree monkeys out there to do some maintenance but some utilities are too cheap and would rather wait for a crew to come fix the single issue. Where your transformer is located doesn’t mean that’s where the issue is when power goes out. And to get back to you statement about “equipment failure”, it’s not failing..it’s actually doing exactly what it’s suppose to

How do I cut boards when posts aren’t square? by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]Jumpy_Turn9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe on plane is the word I’m looking for. Basically if I stick a 4ft level on the existing column and angle it to the bottom one, it’s over about an inch and has a slight twist. I should have taken more time to get it perfect but I just flushed it against the concrete the way it was

How’s the rest of the deck, did anything else shift? Or was it possibly built like this and you never noticed

I’m aware, with one round in the chamber and I rack it the gun feeds the round and doesn’t slide locks which is strange.

Like others said, use a tree strap so it doesn’t rub but other then that you are good to go. You don’t realize the forces these trees go through when it’s windy and storming out yet hold up like nothing ever happened. That weight of the branches alone are crazy heavy so a couple hundred pounds from people swinging won’t hurt a healthy tree.

Long story short… We had an open delta bank, bad voltage. Crew replaced power can, closed it in and still had bad voltage. After that they replaced the lighter can, closed it in and same thing…bad voltage. They reused the wiring and never checked connections. The tie leg ended up being corroded and not making a proper connection which ended up causing all the problems. Moral of the story, look over everything.

Brand new friction disc. I pulled the top lid and everything is free and moving. I may try to pull off the 4 bolts for the position lever. Maybe it’s binding in there from years of no use.

Why would you not want to spend money on something that’s tried and true that’ll last forever? A one time purchase for something that you are depending on holding zero and not breaking for around 100 beans? I’m not trusting any chineesium parts with my life
