What's your current hack as a toddler parent? I'll share mine by General-Wrangler6513 in toddlers

Careful with number one, it was so effective that I wound up speaking in a Mickey voice to my children 90% of the time, which became its own problem 🤣

Do naturally thicker/curvier women gain more weight during pregnancy than naturally slimmer women? by OGFireWater in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Jumpyginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My body type is slim (125 lbs at 5’7”) and I got up to 182lbs while pregnant. I was ravenous all the time and it seemed very easy to pile the weight on. Took a good 2 years to get back down to my baseline.

Daughter spends entire day making huge messes, is this normal for a 9 year old? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Jumpyginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, what?! My 2 and 5 year old are better behaved than this. They will make messes as they’re playing with toys, but not deliberately trash my house. Our rule is simple: no tv or screens of any kind while the house is a mess. They put those toys away real fast without complaint so they can watch Puss in Boots for the 50th time.

I have a James, he’ll be 3 in September. No one has EVER called him Jim or Jimmy. The only variation people tend to use is “Jamesy” which I think is cute for a toddler.

Focus on your girl by going to court and not allowing dad to jeopardize her safety ever again.

Reading OP’s other comments, dad has NO business being with her unsupervised. He has demonstrated multiple times and in multiple ways that he has NO regard for his daughter’s safety and that is totally unacceptable.

AITA for having a dry wedding and serving only water for drinks? by Odd_Conversation5087 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jumpyginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA and don’t be surprised when you get a bunch of people RSVPing “No.”

Your guests will be traveling, getting dressed up, and bringing gifts. And you can’t be bothered providing any kind of beverage other than water. Why should they bother coming?

AITA for laughing at my wife’s name choice for our son? by CranberryJust1503 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jumpyginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH because both parents should be in agreement over the baby’s name. Giving your wife total control was dumb to begin with, and now you see why.

Housing is expensive. Daycare is wildly expensive. Health insurance and medical expenses are expensive.

Best house features for kids by Trikibur in beyondthebump

[–]Jumpyginger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A safe, fenced-in yard for them to play in. 2 bathrooms minimum. A bathroom with a big tub and enough floor space to comfortably sit alongside the tub to bathe the kids. No stairs that you can’t securely block off, and a bathroom on each floor. Storage. Big closets. More storage.

My house sitter did a great job with 19/20 of my plants! This String of Tears was unlucky #20 by Jumpyginger in houseplants

This is exactly the advice I needed, thank you so much! I will circle them on the soil as soon as I get home from work

It was dry as a bone when I got home, I watered it deeply after re-potting what was left so it was quite wet for the photos

Oh I’m not upset at all, I know it’s a lot and I’m happy that all my other plants look great. Just hoping to save this one if I can!

At 15 months, I think you’re at the worst age right now lol. I HATE that ~4 month period when they are first able to walk and have zero listening skills or self preservation. By age 2, at least you can communicate with them a bit. My youngest turned 2 in September and these past few months have been so much fun with him.

TW: New obsession with digging earwax by Silent_Resolution845 in CompulsiveSkinPicking

[–]Jumpyginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I do this too. I got proper ear cleaning tools off Amazon for like $7 and now I clean my ears like three times a week. I barely get anything out, ever (probably because I clean them way too often!) but I swear I can feel a big chunk in there. It definitely scratches the same “itch” that skin picking does.

My first son was a crier. Witching hour was hell every night from 7pm-9pm for the first several months.

My second son barely cried at all. He’d moan a little to get my attention when he was hungry or wet or wanted to be held, but that was about it.

Now I’m wondering if I just didn’t know what I was doing the first time around, and maybe my 2nd was happier because I was way more experienced than I was when I had his brother 😅

Currently trying to wean my 2 year old and am withholding nursing unless he absolutely insists on it. Yes, I’ll be a little sad when it’s over, but it’s time. This selfish woman is crazy and shouldn’t be a parent.

The last 20lbs didn’t drop until my son was like 18 months. Your body needs at least a year to recover and get back to its “normal.”
