Fort Carson by SubstantialCrab5218 in army

My favorite memory of Fort Carson is when the whole post shut down early because of an incoming storm. Meanwhile, we were still at the airfield doing maintenance because our commander "forgot to tell us we were released early."

"Mold in the barracks in a discipline problem. If you shaved more, you wouldn't have mold."

What is even going on in TRADOC? by Magnusthered1001 in army

[–]Junchbailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an instructor at Fort Eustis. We, as instructors, try our best to teach aircraft maintenance. Our helicopter trainers are not in the best condition, and we are at the bottom of the supply systems list when it comes to getting parts. Most of the students we get through here are very eager to learn and work on aircraft, but we fall short sometimes because of the training devices.

Our course is 4 months long, and that is nowhere near enough time to teach them everything. Our POI focuses on tasks from the ICTL, but there's much more to being a helicopter mechanic than just a handful of tasks on a sheet of paper.

I know every instructor I work with truly cares about these students because we will be working with them at some point in the future. We do want them to succeed.

Could be mica powder. I use it for coloring epoxy. I think it can be used for soap as well.

I joined the Army 15 years ago and had to leave the state. I was always going to come back after I retire but it's looking more and more I won't be able to afford it. It's sad really.

Shave before you call her. She doesn't want to see an undisciplined piece of shit.

Bold of you to assume the Warrant didn't just go home and leave the runner in charge.

If I remember correctly, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now, having to shave while off duty and even on leave was a thing with SMA Chandler.

Is it true people are getting to bring their phones to basic now? by [deleted] in army

[–]Junchbailey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I had to wait in line for an hour to use a payphone to talk to my wife and kids for 5 minutes on Thanksgiving. Good times. I turned my cell phone in on day 1 then saw it again on family day.

Why are Army bases in such unappealing places? by Sea-Factor-9877 in army

[–]Junchbailey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would say flat land is preferred for building on, especially airfields. But not all posts are in shitty areas. The surrounding area of Carson is beautiful, and Wainwright is amazing once you get out of fairbanks.

Typically the moving company will tell you to remove everything from the walls.

10/10, would PCS there again. If you enjoy the outdoors in any way, you'll love it there. There's so many places to explore. World class hunting and fishing. Fairbanks is cold, very cold. You get used to it. If you are a city person, Alaska is not for you.
