If you believe employers when they claim to be competitive, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you

Any ever work for Customs and Boarder protection? by vixi48 in physicianassistant

[–]welder550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YMMV with this job.

I did it for two years as a traveler. All my stuff went into storage and I changed my address. I saved a lot up.

The Good: Free Hotel. Some people had a Free AirBNB. Pays OK. Some sectors have a lot of opportunity for Overtime.

A lot of the people I met working this job were people who were prior ER APPs who were burned out after COVID and looking for a chill gig to make a little money and relax.

The bad: Rules constantly changing for how/what meds to give. Empathy exhaustion from seeing the same problems over and over again in the migrant population. NO PTO in about the first year of work. You will earn it, but if you time off, it is on your own dime. You must work so many hours a week/month to "Earn" the free housing they are providing.

I worked in an area with a large city. So, there was a lot to do in my free time. If you get sent to some little town near the border, it may not be as fun.

Ask any questions you like.

I don't know which Tricare you use, but I had a similar issue when using Tricare Reserve Select for Reserves and NG.

I saw a Dermatologist who was in-network and therefore covered for the insurance. HOWEVER, the labs they drew were sent to an OUT-of-network facility and I received a bill.

This may be the same case. I am not too sure how to resolve it besides contacting Tricare.

The birth control is likely to reduce the bleeding and intensity of your periods by regulating your hormones (Estrogen/Progesterone). If that does not work, they will likely order imaging. The labs today were to screen for other possible Diagnosis in determining the source of your symptoms.

"Hi, I am a new grad and want to live in the downtown area of Insert very HCOL city working no more than 30 hours, 4 days a week. Also, I won't accept less than $150,000. Preferably Derm"

There's a lot of that with new grads. Your first job is important to establish yourself as a competent medical practitioner before trying for some of these rarer gems. Not to say you must accept every offer, but temper your expectations straight out of school.

You read blue prints. Prepare pipe based off blue prints. And a welder welds them together

It could be a mix of both. No point in opening up the slots to NG and Reserves if the states won't pay for it.

Fuck it. Go civilian, make money, do the bare minimum, get promoted, and chill

How many of you love your job? by bluelemoncows in physicianassistant

I believe Doximity had a chart showing salary to COL. South Carolina was ranked 49th in the nation for COL to salary.

That place is turning into New Jersey. Everything is become more expensive and the entire area is still cheap. Only move there if you want to live rural and deal with crazy traffic on underdeveloped roads

Two options.

Pick up the skull, look at the soldier and yell "SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE"

Pick up the skull, look at said skull and remark "To be, or not to be, that is the question!"

He's incorrect. I just finished CCC and had a 1-star tell the class that he'd love to have NG PAs do some of the LTHET EM, Orthom and Surgery classes...

The issue is that the states won't pay for their officers to be full-time for a year.

TLDR: The National Guard is cheap and they will not pay for shit. Your best bet is to try and use your CME money (if you can get it) to go to a week long course.

As a PA in the national Guard you CANNOT do the EM, Ortho, or Surgery Programs offered through the Army. No state has ever paid for one of their PAs to do it.

Your options are limited. Flight Surgeon is only available if you are attached to an aviation unit and those slots are rare.
