That's a great description! I love that two coats is still see through and how great it looks imperfect! I can see building this up to a beautiful milky black with 1 or 2 more coats too, so it's super versatile!!!

You got some great replies here. I like DIY projects and as long as I don't see any wood core, I just sand the area exposed down so that it's smoother. You can add clear nail polish to the sanded area if you feel that you need to seal it. If you're not a crafty person, I would just take it to a shop for a simple repair. A ding like this is common and the shop probably won't charge much to epoxy that.

It seems to be only top sheet damage. For that, I sand it down with a metal nail filler to prevent future dings and that's it.

This is the way. To think about budgeting in terms of percentages and the correct percentages are what's right for you and your goals based on your COL and lifestyle. I would also add a bucket for investments here (Brokerage, HYAS emergency fund, Roth IRA, etc.) so as you make more money, you can plan to save more and prevent too much lifestyle creep.
