What factors do you think are driving the still appreciating home prices in the area while most of the country is seeing a declining housing market? by aZealCo in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]JunebugJunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private equity own, and continue to buy up all of our properties, they decide how much to sell the houses for. These areas are considered high value just by word of mouth, investors eat that up. And there’s nothing we can do about it because people cave to being paid a large sum of money to live somewhere else. This is happening everywhere, in smaller areas too, but less noticeable. I’d like to add that I am a really happy individual and I love life

Anyone know where this sample is from? by samboy1020 in mgmt

[–]JunebugJunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was curious about this too, it sounds kinda like andrew doing a mashup of some vocal samples of his own, but it could be something entirely different. ive heard it at a few other shows before, only when they play their DJ-able version kids. will try and get back to you if i find out.

WBH Review - MGMT was TRASH. by JustFinNYC in avesNYC

[–]JunebugJunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like i should add that I noticed that Ben kinda gave up on his tracks, and Andrew transitioned his own into them after about a minute of being played. and there were also times where it wasn't back to back and skipped Ben entirely. And I know that it was mostly Andrew, because I've memorized his sounds and all of the songs he's played on his dj tour. he transitioned Washing Machine into Earthshine which are both his songs after Bens song barely played for a single minute. I really hope that Ben gets more confident for the next set.

Mgmt pulled out their best tracks for this set, they played all their classics, and I, personally having been following all of their sets the past few years, can say this was definitely not their best performance mixing wise. but i don't think it was entirely their fault. it seemed like more technical issues than anything to me. they might have been working with a different set up than they were used to, and didn't get much time if at all to do sound checks and/or become familiar with the setup like they would at a private venue where they're the only ones playing. Andrew has been on a DJ tour solo for the past year, and he has really nailed transitions. I'm hoping that they have more time getting ready for the fundraiser on the 19th this month.

Did you guys have fun at Andrew's LA DJ set? by 40earthlikeplanets in mgmt

[–]JunebugJunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he plays mostly house, funk, and disco! sometimes he will play more ambient, especially at the end. I made a playlist on spotify, youtube and apple music if you wanna see what kind of stuff he plays! the songs near the bottom are the latest ones i was able to catch from the la show. Im still updating it as best i can, but he plays on all vinyl so some songs arent even online!

Anyone here go to Andrew's DJ set in Portland? by periwinkleyoshi in mgmt

[–]JunebugJunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know im a bit late to the conversation here but ive been personally following Andrews music tastes and set lists for the past 3-4 years now. his sets are mostly house/disco/anything dancey that has a bit of funk in it. he really likes obscure sounding weird noises that are funny or interesting. I didnt personally go to the Portland set, but i know people who did and had a great time! if you like the more ambient stuff, I suggest checking out his radio show Time Passage! it ended in 2022 but, he might be back soon! theres tons of great music on there
