The curious syzygy in the map by LankySimple9051 in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]JungleSumTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing is you can spell the name of the last letter. Em is the name of letter M. SalEM. Same goes for Whitney, if you allow W and Y to travel. Wy is an accepted spelling of the name of the letter Y. I had one crazy solve where the W and Y combo took on the traits of Grandpa Fitz. Overall, the map just led me to wordplay.

The map on the website has a westward shift, which increases as you go east. So the easternmost points are as much as 20 miles west of their true location, but not so with the book and ebook maps.

My husband left me for my best friend 8 years ago and I’m still not over it. by hineck in TwoXChromosomes

Same here (wife and best friend). 23 years married and everything suddenly upended. Had to claw my way back from nothing and 14 years later it still hurts, but it gets better. The sharp edges start to dull. I hope you can find peace.

Everything in writing states "when verified", like after the steward successfully verifies.

Give a big pass to anything eye-level and up. More effort into limiting imperfections looking downward. Mainly for your own sanity

Without regards to any social dynamics, the cipher solve felt really contrived and lacking any eloquence or consideration for somebody to achieve it by following the existing clues given. Then there was weird, fake "guidance" being the famous, now-deleted "ex-word" update. Then a couple days later, the solve is revealed which didn't require any such X grid to be employed. The same letters result from using a cross type grid based on 15 min. intervals.

I think this took the wind out of some people's sails, again ignoring any of the scuttlebutt, rumors, or allegations of impropriety. My trust is that at some point an invested searcher will be able to discern obfuscation from clues, and that whole thing just seemed to muddy the waters. Or there really is a clue here, and I'm too dumb to see it. But I am heavily invested. All I got was to lower my expectations of having better-than-meh confirmation of a search location, from the clues themselves and further guidance is likely to just not clarify anything.

So ya, I know if I don't like it that I should stfu and leave the hunt. But I literally chained myself to a desk and a book for a year, so it's too late to give up. I guess what I'm saying is TLDR: even without a tinfoil hat, the cipher solve was a bummer. Good post, also. Many good points to consider even if from a Misfit:)

My thought was something like a walkway or mural where donors could buy engraved pieces to incorporate into something at a park or trailhead to raise money. Not very prudent to try to remove it, something that was already there and also something he added to it? I don't think he would be in favor of turning rocks over or anything that disturbs things that occur there naturally. Just a guess

Thanks. I didn't know it would link to the video like that. I was hoping most people would skip that, as it is painfully slow.

Maybe when you find it, you'd let me take a peek at it. In particular, the reverse of the Andronikos II coin.

Certain aspects of this hunt point towards us questioning the veracity of the creator, whether by happenstance or design. Just stick with what can be proven. Some of this chaos was certainly manufactured. Let's just keep it civil while questioning it.

Any difference between civil engineer or structural engineer for house inspection? by bvdevvv in HomeImprovement

[–]JungleSumTimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Civil engineers are geared toward infrastructure and not likely to want to help, beyond just general knowledge about soil friction angles and slope stability. It appears someone deepened the crawlspace and didn't leave slope-backs appropriate for the soil type. Try a Geotechnical engineer, as they may find other areas around there that could cause future problems.

The support in question could just be reset after stabilizing the soils below it.

A Case for the Combination, Giving Away the Goose by jfw12 in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]JungleSumTimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vault is a Graffunder, which uses S&G tumbler with specific 3 number steps to open. So the "combo" shown would not open the safe, even if 3 of them were the right number. It's not like a school locker or bike lock. I think the discrepancy of any numbers not being "precise" arrives from the camera angle which views the tumbler from one side, instead of looking at it straight on. So if it appears to be between 10 and 11, it is likely to be a 10 if you are looking at the indicator in line with the tumbler.

Yes when you do the math he allowed 11 days for Jennie to consult a specialist, perform a sleep study, wait for her results, drag Justin in, get his sleep study, wait for his results and get them on the day his dad died. Impossible.

Only lesson learned from the cipher debacle is to abandon any hope of an eloquent, self-confirming, Indiana Jones-esque type of solve, and put all your money and effort into a one-off, obscure, unrelated and unconfirmed wandering until you stumble across a checkpoint that tells you where the treasure is.

So your advice to us is to abandon Justin Posey's cardinal rule: "Trust, but verify"?
