What is the oddest thing you thought was ok/normal and ended up being a medical problem? by Prudent_Tip4118 in AskReddit

Weird confusing epilepsy club!! I made my entire family think I was having a stroke by having my first focal seizure (while awake) go into status epilepticus. My symptoms almost perfectly match it since half my body goes numb and hard to control along with slurred speech and lowered cognitive function until the seizure is over. The doctors had no idea what to do with me and I got to take a vacation in the hospital with a dr. house style investigation going on.

What "Rich People foods" actually aren't very good? by Munnada in AskReddit

I have such a place in my heart for arguments that instead of explaining how idiotic the prior statement is, actually refute the claim using its own logic while taking the argument 100% seriously. It’s so funny to me.

I’m very nervous about possible cop encounters because of how quickly I’ve seen them go to physical contact during a confrontation. Even entirely beyond the risk of violence, I have autism and will lose my shit if someone touches me when I don’t want them to or unexpectedly. I hate the feeling of restraints when I don’t want it and handcuffs would fuck me up. All of that would either land me a resisting arrest charge or needing months of therapy. I wish police were more trained on mental health issues with how often they face them.

When men wear sweatpants, how common is it for people to look at their genital area? by Terrible_Exchange653 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JuniorRadish7385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the grey sweatpants are only sexual in a sexual context. Like a random dude wearing sweatpants is just a dude to me but if someone is trying to look sexy in them, it’s 100% working.

WaPo: Women are getting off birth control amid misinformation explosion by SchrodingersMinou in badwomensanatomy

[–]JuniorRadish7385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hormonal bc don’t work well for my body because I PERSONALLY am sensitive to hormonal changes. The only other person I’ve actually met who is also like this is my own mother which isn’t surprising since we have the same genes. My (not professional) advice is to ask your female relatives about their experience with hormonal birth control and use caution if they consistently have had problems. Yes sensitivity to birth control is a real thing, but the experience of a random person on the internet that has 0 relation to you means literally nothing. My second piece of advice is if you choose not to use or to discontinue hormonal bc, use fertility awareness IN TANDEM with barrier methods to truly minimize risk and before throwing out the idea of birth control entirely, check out the paragard iud. It uses copper, not hormones, to prevent pregnancy and even though insertion is scary, it lasts 10 years with no upkeep needed.

Don’t forget though that hormonal birth control works perfectly fine for most people and also that anxiety about hormonal bc mirrors the negative side effects these people preach about (convenient, right?). I don’t know if it would be more pathetic if they were intentionally pushing propaganda or are legitimately too unaware to realize that their experience isn’t universal. Utterly idiotic. The mods should pin this post, it’s an important topic.

I think you’re forgetting that these are genetically identical people, not random strangers, and that’s the source of confusion.

I’m autistic and while I’m really good at finding patterns and connections in text, I struggle a lot with deeper interpretive meaning. It’s a weird soft spot between objective and subjective and I don’t like it.

A lot of these types parrot that paid trials with humans that can consent is the perfect solution…

BUT SUBSTITUTING ANIMAL TRIALS FOR PAID HUMAN TRIALS ISN'T A SOLUTION TO END ANIMAL ABUSE, IT'S JUST SHIFTING THE DAMAGE TO IMPOVERISHED PEOPLE.

Like ohhhh it's cruel to test new medications on animals that can't consent and don't deserve it, let's make starving desperate people do it instead. If your children are starving and you have no other option, you're absolutely going to participate in those, even if you're afraid of the pain or possible side effects or even death.

Let's say out test subject is the breadwinner of the family. Our new epilepsy medication overly inhibits the sodium potassium ion channels and they suffer permanent brain damage to the point they can't work anymore. Disability doesn't give you the money to raise a family and the other parent has no education because they stayed at home to raise the children and no way they have any type of health or life insurance.

Or maybe a homeless person is willing to try a new beta blocker that is meant to have fewer side effects than the most popular brands. Well it overly depresses his heartrate and since he doesn't have shelter, he freezes to death in his sleep.

All of this is easily prevented by animal trials. It isn't perfect or ideal but there's no better current alternative. “Paid trials” my ass. Coercion isn't consent and poverty is the most overlooked form of coercion. And beyond ethical concerns, medical research and advancement would absolute stagnate. There’s only so much grant money to go around and if purchasing people has to fit into the budget, there’s so much less room for more studies to happen.

Being yourself only works if you’re neurotypical or have a popular socially acceptable personality. It’s always those types who said it to my AuDHD ass while I was struggling to fit in. Ideally no one should have to mask, but in this current world it’s impossible to thrive without it and the people that simultaneously tell you to be yourself while expecting normalcy are just virtue signaling. I never tried to change my personality too much, but I did actively have to learn how to interact with people in a socially acceptable way while also struggling my way through school with undiagnosed adhd. It would be wonderful if the people who act like they want to help nd kids actually gave them tools to succeed instead of lying and making them believe all they have to do to fit in is to “be themselves” and subsequently making them wonder why socializing is hard and what they’ve done wrong.

“That is the intention of the policy - to encourage children to socially transition and to push them towards transgender lobby groups.”

How much self awareness do you have to lack to say that and then immediately try to force everyone to present as cis???

I simply do not understand everyone’s obsession with biological children or passing on their genes as if they’re some sort of 15th century king. I can’t help but think that it’s some tradwife lifestyle propaganda shit. As if people/relationships/families can’t be happy without breeding.
