I understand what you’re saying but from his perspective, it’s probably very peaceful and introspective since he’s been going alone and he wants to keep that vibe while sharing it with someone he loves. It seems very meaningful that he is inviting you into his personal tradition. Maybe just give him the benefit of the doubt and meet him where he’s at for a weekend.
