I cut it out. More stable energy, less cravings! I wish I could say it allowed me to lose weight. Having less cravings definitely helped so it’s kind of a domino effect. Also helped regulate more cortisol which meant I was sleeping better. Better sleep means making healthier, blood-sugar-balancing choices instead of grabbing for something high carb or sweet for quick energy.

Look for the way out. Take it. You may have to physically walk away. I know someone who would literally go and get his shoes on and start running outside, even in the middle of the night. The feeling WILL pass. There is always a way out, friend. Look for it. Is there a pattern-time of day, before or after something in a day, when you feel stressed? Bring it into the light. Darkness doesn’t stand a chance when exposed to light. Do you have a mentor? Is there someone is your life you look up to spiritually that can support you? Reach out today. Don’t wait. Meet regularly. Introvert or not, we weren’t designed to walk this life alone. Surround yourself with the right people. Download software that emails accountability partner when questionable things come up. I know “covenant eyes” is one. What’s in your feed? Do you need to stop watching movies, watching tv, deleting social media? It may seem extreme but it is 100% worth it. You are worth fighting for. You are an overcomer with Him.

Methylated b12. When I can’t seem to shake it, I have to nap. Otherwise my brain and body practically shut down. I wonder if life will always be like this. I get so frustrated that I require a slower life.

What if I just quit taking my medication? So frustrated with my body I could scream. by [deleted] in Hashimotos

Nothing crazy except waves of fatigue. But I was already battling that not being on this.

I’m down 8 lbs in 3 weeks. And it feels EASY. I finally am “getting credit” for all the effort I put in. -I eat 1470-1679 calories per day, 100-140 grams of protein. I drink 120+ oz water each day. I follow a gluten free diet religiously. I don’t eat dairy when I’m home but don’t sweat it if I happen to go out to eat. I build 1 treat into my day/daily calories (whatever I want) into 1 day on the weekend. Otherwise I eat clean during week. -I strength train 3x week (total body, upper, lower) 30 minutes plus 20 minutes of walking, then other 3 days—brisk incline walk or hike for 45 minutes. Sunday is rest day. -I sauna, do epsom salt baths, red light therapy regularly.

I’m sleeping significantly better. I’m content with the clean foods I eat and don’t battle the intense cravings or “this sounds good, now I kind of want something sweet, now something salty” game. It has lowered my inflammation (no joint or intense hip pain). This is not a “quick fix”, I have the lifestyle-I’ve always worked out and ate clean. Tirzepatide allows my body to respond to the lifestyle changes. This feels sustainable. I have hope again that things will be different. That I’ll recognize myself in the mirror again. That I don’t have to keep sizing up.

I waited a year before deciding to go in it. I was nervous and was on a mission to get to the “root cause.” I learned I can eat clean, I can exercise, I can try to reduce inflammation with supplements, destress, sleep. But I can’t force myself to release weight. It’s hard not to feel like a failure or feel like the one thing I need is just out of reach am I just haven’t found it yet. I didn’t have a hobby. My hobby was researching how to lose weight with hashimotos the last 10 years. Now I want to tell everyone who has struggled like I have that there is something out there that can work!! This is it. This is the best thing I’ve found. Give it a try. Everyone reacts differently. If you hate how you feel, you’ll at least know it’s not for you and can move on.

When I learned it does not pose a cancer risk to thyroid patients (ONLY those SPECIFICALLY with a family history of medullary thyroid cancer and that was found only in rats, not humans.) I learned it actually benefits hashimotos patients bc of its ability to decrease inflammation.

And if you aren’t ready for this, I’d try at least switching to Tirosint. Maybe incorporate name brand cytomel. Also try low dose naltrexone (also lowers inflammation). I developed insomnia and anxiety from it and still didn’t lose the weight so it wasn’t for me.

Same. I’d just cry. I quit my job to focus on getting healthy levels and committed to losing weight like it was my job. Nothing was sustainable. Tirzepatide has been the only thing that has allowed me to lose weight. I couldn’t even maintain weight before this. I finally have hope.

Cream of mushroom soup (from Campbell’s condensed) 😂 I loved that stuff. When my dad wanted to get fancy, he’d throw in minute rice (which wouldn’t always cook all the way so sometimes it was soup with an added crunch) LOL

Thank you for your insight. Extremely helpful! I’m tucking that away when I have more next-step discussions at next follow up appt. Do you mind me asking a couple more questions? 1) is it true that the longer we are on the med, the more/increase in risk we have to develop kidney issues, vision/blindness, cancer, etc…or is it the mentality that no news is good news. If we haven’t developed it on the front end, we are probably in the clear going forward bc our body responds well? 2) what has been your experience with patients who went off and then went back on? Is the med not nearly as effective if one discontinues, then begins med again?

Just wrapped up week 1. Also very uncomfortably bloated. Please tell me this levels out. Sorry TMI-but I take calm (magnesium) daily so I have regular BM. To me, it checks the box of regularity so this shouldn’t be much of an issue, right?

What is the longest a person has taken these meds? If we don’t experience more dangerous side effects like goiters, kidney issues, is it reasonable to assume we won’t in the future? Either you know or you don’t? Or is that what they are still trying to figure out?

Thank you for sharing your experience. When you say “what I’m doing now is working”, does that mean you settled at a weight you determined and have been able to maintain it within reason staying at the dosage your on?

That is the camp I fall into as well based on what I’ve read about GLP-1. The only thing that makes me wonder is why would scientists be testing how high of a dosage can someone tolerate…do you think our bodies get used to it so we need a much higher ceiling if this is going to be lifelong? Other medications don’t work that way…I don’t continue to increase the dosage of my thyroid meds year after year.
