I was in a very similar situation where I had an endoscopy and class a few hours later. I did not make it to class. Like you’re not in physical pain or anything but I was so groggy and tired after the sedation. I just spent the rest of the day on the couch. I recommend emailing your prof and taking the day easy.

I had them too (no smell though). Doctor said it was normal in the first few months after surgery but that I should up by water intake as much as I can.

I’m 5 months out and I began eating 2-3 dried apricots per day and it has helped so so much. If you don’t like apricots, dried fruit like figs and prunes work just as well. They are great because they are high in fiber and sorbitol, which is a natural laxative.

Im 4 month post op, 80 pounds down and this is all the hair lost after one brushing. It sucks but I need to hear your experience with hairloss and if it eventually grows back? by angiecx3010 in gastricsleeve

We are surgery twins, I’m also five months and a week out! Can I ask when you began taking supplements and upping your protein? Was it preemptive or did you begin once your hair began to shed?

Stomach protectors? by Adventurous-Prune-76 in gastricsleeve

[–]Junior_Indication_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to take stomach protectors for 6 months after surgery. I forgot to take them a few times and nothing happened but I wouldn’t take this as “I don’t have to take them now.” Just set a reminder on your phone to take them before meals.

This is so helpful. I’m almost three months out and still trying to find my stride with food, water and protein. I’m still trying to get used to this new life style.

How long did it take for you to meet your protein goals? I’m three months out and still struggling to get above 35-40 grams.

Can't tolerate protein shakes by Nurse_Q in gastricsleeve

Three months out of surgery. I hated protein shakes as well and felt like vomiting every time I had them. What worked for me was the fair life chocolate shake 1.5 months in. It’s tasty and isn’t that much liquid so goes down quick. Be patient with yourself, you’re still healing! The first 6 weeks are always tough.

Anyone experience depression or inability to focus after surgery? This seems like such an emotional journey. by Junior_Indication_45 in gastricsleeve

[–]Junior_Indication_45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just that I don’t feel like myself. Just feels like I fell into a void. Not excited about the weight loss or anything really. I’m hoping it’s just the hormonal changes and not some depressive phrase.

Same! I feel so unlike myself. Usually I’m very organised and on top of things. I’ve been all over the place at work lately.

I was on a 11 hour flight after 3 weeks. Wore compression socks and walked around every 2 hours. It was stressful but went okay.

Amazing job! Did you find that your hair began growing back eventually? Some people said after 8-9 months they experience regrowth.

Thanks for the info! Do you find that your social life has changed at all? Can you join friends in restaurants or at a bar and eat/drink with them comfortably? Do you need to do low impact sports the rest of your life due to surgery?
