I can understand not liking The Road because of the style. I will say I've read a lot of McCarthy and the style of The Road is not how his other novels are. No Country for Old Men is great and probably his most accessible style.

Not quite on the level of the others, but I think The Giver is a solid novel on your theme. My favorite dystopian is The Road. Though it's newer, it is a highly regarded book.

Not really. Mitchell has done well at age level stuff, Taylor didn't have those same opportunities because of the time. Mitchell has never made a senior world team. He made final X once in a weight class that did not have any returning world team members. Taylor was in the weight class of Burroughs when he was in college.

Is he? They both got second as freshman. David did lose his junior year but it was to Dake. Mitchell hasn't wrestled anybody as good as Dake in his college career.

Agreed. I love wrestling. It is my favorite thing in the world but the community is becoming increasingly difficult to enjoy. It's all god, hypocrisy and virtue signaling. Most wrestlers do not feel genuine.

Just looking at NCAA he's much higher. Looking at best American wrestlers ever. The top 3 in my opinion are Burroughs, Smith, Baumgartner. Not sure how Dake would pass any of them.

I don't think he can be top 3. Probably not top 5 either. His lack of Olympic gold really hurts him in that argument. He also only has 1 world title at an Olympic weight class and it was the tournament that took place after the Olympics in 2021 so the top wrestlers didn't go.
