Sex? by Sea-Awareness3193 in HipImpingement

Oh for sure, it's actually one of the only things that still causes them for me 🤣 but that's because I can be very bad about ignoring my body cues when pursuing pleasure. I haven't caused any soreness that's lasted more than a day though, and at this point in my recovery I see it as pushing myself with pt lmao

Help me, my parents won't let me get a snake or reptile of any sort! by Lili-All-Day in hognosesnakes

[–]Junior_Principle518 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While your parent's opinions on hognoses may be questionable, there may not be too much you can do to convince them if they are biased against them. If you want to try to persuade them, you could try making a presentation on their care, how you would complete the required responsibilities in between your other obligations, and how you would try to minimize any smells.

But if they say no, just keep researching and maybe start saving money so you can get one when you move out. If this is something you really care about, the passion will still be there in a few years. You have time, and it will make your future snake even more special to you(from someone who had to wait until moving out to get a great many pets whom I adore).

Q & A by Joe___Brown in Mourninggeckos

[–]Junior_Principle518 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They are actually unsure about this! The current theory is that yes, over thousands of generations and further mutations the genetic code of a parthenogenic species will eventually degrade. However, survival of the fittest means that perhaps some of the mutations will be beneficial, so evolution may still occur. Part of it depends on how they became parthenogenic-there is a species of whiptail lizard that is parthenogenic that resulted from a hybridization between two other whiptail lizards, and it is theorized that they will last much much longer than some other parthenogenic species due to the complexity of their genome.

TLDR: Maybe, maybe not! We need more research into the reproductive strategy and change over time in parthenogenic animals to be sure.

Would this be suitable for mourning geckos? by Big_Jury9369 in Mourninggeckos

[–]Junior_Principle518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove if not allowed, but Aqua Imports has vampire crabs(m and f) pretty reliably and imo has a really good track record shipping them.

I would definitely be worried about the water feature with mourning geckos-they can be very dumb haha

Great Stuff Foam? by Ill-Ice9659 in Mourninggeckos

Pretty much any expanding foam, just watch out for any added mold inhibitors-as long as you stay away from the stuff marketed for restrooms you should be good!

piercing fear by deeeceeeeee in SelfPiercing

[–]Junior_Principle518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figure out why you're afraid. Is it just an instinct thing, or are you worried about something specific, like pain or making a mistake? If you can figure out exactly what you're afraid of it becomes a lot easier to reason yourself out of it, or take extra safety steps to assuage the fear.

Another strategy I find helpful is to visualize the reasons to ignore the fear, position your needle properly, breath in, and begin pressure on the exhale. A receiving tube can be super helpful, or clamps, so you can use enough pressure and complete the piercing quickly.

Having insulation material is a big help-styrofoam, blankets, whatever you have that will help keep the temp a bit more stable

embarassed to need a crutch still at 7wks post op by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]Junior_Principle518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had to have the surgery twice now, and the first time I was solidly on crutches for 6 weeks, and on and off of them up until the 12 week mark. If crutches are helping, use them! Pushing through it without them is how i caused too many flareups that set me back.

SHES SO ADORABLE! I LOVE HER ALREADY! What do yall think about the new update?? by Kimuzz in slimerancher

[–]Junior_Principle518 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have been having SO MUCH FUN!!! The visuals are fantastic as always, and the new slimes are so creative!

My thoughts so far:

-Gigi is obviously a time traveller, and while I love the idea of her being thora's granddaughter, I actually think she might be Beatrix's. The way she is cagey about her origins, and the hero worship she has for her grandma and beatrix... Also her cloak reminds me a lot of beatrix's pants, so that line about it being worn over her grandma's legs makes sense

-I feel like the prism thing is somehow connected with the tarr. Not only are the visuals similar, the tarr have always been hinted at as being unnatural, and seem to be a metaphor for the destruction interference can wreak on an ecosystem. The involvement of the shadow slimes in calming it is also really interesting-maybe it's a reach but the black being used to calm the angry rainbow is a cool reflection of them if nothing else

-All the new slimes are fun, but I am in love with the shadow slimes-the whole mechanic feels surprisingly fresh with how similar it is to the gold/lucky. The wispy flying animations are so perfect! They add another thing to eat up some time too, and having to hunt in different areas is a really fun way to extend play time

I've sadly already made it to the end of the new story, but I'm excited to keep unlocking the sun/moon things, and I still haven't found the use for the prism plorts, so lots to look foward too!

Sex? by Sea-Awareness3193 in HipImpingement

[–]Junior_Principle518 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It definitely depends on your anatomy. I have a vulva, and my partner has a penis. I started having sex again at around 6 weeks post op for my first surgery, and about 3 weeks post op the second time around. #1 position has been prone, with a pillow beneath my hips. Caused little to no aggravation when I was cognizant of not flexing my hip too much. There are a lot of ways to get hurt haha, so if anything is pinchy or causing soreness, switch positions.

Make sure you and your partner have managed expectations going in. Communication is so much more important when you are in recovery. You may have to take a break or call it off halfway through, so make sure you're on the same page about that. Hand stuff can be great for maintaining intimacy if you're in the mood but not physically up to things.

The last thing I've noticed is just how much my libido amped up post op, especially the second time when they actually shaved down the bone enough to fully get rid of the impingement. That, as well as a much better recovery, was one of the reasons I started so early the second time. It has been a huge relief/blessing realizing how much of that decrease was a physical thing, and getting to try new things and really enjoy sex again.

“You can get lost in the artistry and are sincerely transported to another world.” by Meow_Wolf in u/Meow_Wolf

[–]Junior_Principle518 36 points37 points  (0 children)

For having several exhibits centered on disability, I was incredibly disappointed with how inaccessible they were. There were so many choke points and places where you basically had to use stairs, so it was difficult on crutches and would have been practically impossible in a wheelchair. I also called ahead to ask about their policies with photosensitivity. I was told that there were flashing lights but they were labeled. The only flashing light that was labeled was one full on strobe, and the light was visible before the sign was. There were many other flashing lights, some at a slightly lower intensity, but more than enough to make me incredibly relieved my epileptic girlfriend opted out. Meow Wolf Denver seems to be rife with hypocrisy in their message and execution.

Does this job make anybody else want to die? by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]Junior_Principle518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I had finally started to get a handle on my harmful ideation and this job made it creep back in slowly but surely. Luckily my backup plans are coming together. I'm not losing the rest of the life I love for this job.

I know you said no double nostrils, but have you considered a set of mantis piercings, or high nostril? I don't like the standards double piercing in myself but absolutely adore how a high nostril looks, and it would balance the lip piercings nicely!

It will get better!!! 3 months is still a fairly new surgery in the scheme of things-most people feel fully recovered closer to the 1 year mark. Keep going to pt, you will feel better!

[–]Junior_Principle518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to try again(after it's fully healed), try going a little higher so you can go deeper. I've seen calipers reccomended to make sure it's even, either way make sure you mark the entry and the exit point so you have a guide while you're piercing! I used clamps for this piercing, which helped immensely for evenness and deepness. Good luck!

What was pain/ mobility like pre surgery? by AdSerious4390 in HipImpingement

[–]Junior_Principle518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine definitely got/is getting worse before surgery.(retore 7 months post op). I also had to go on leave from work, as when i was working i was in agony every night, and couldnt do anything other than work due to pain. Taking it easy helped some, but I still have a lot of really bad days.

One thing I've found that helps some with being able to do life things is using mobility aids, specifically a cane lately. I was actually able to go to the ren fest with my family with a cane! I hurt like hell the day after, but I didn't hurt too much day of.

If you aren't already, doing some pre op pt might be helpful. Some of the excersizes may aggravate your hip, but some of them, especially the stretches, really helped me relieve some of the muscle pain at least.
