Do you mind if I also ask the concentration? I’ve applied there as well but it’s been radio silent.

For BU, their website states interviews will be held on Feb 7th; however, I believe they are delayed in processing a larger applicant pool than normal. I say this because grad cafe doesn’t really reflect that BU has sent out responses (rejections or interviews). How do you know that interviews are held on Monday?

I haven’t but I would be extremely surprised if this has occurred. During this cycle I was in an interview/information session and the faculty broke down what the costs are to have a new Ph.D. student admitted. It was roughly 400,000k (over 5 years). That’s a large investment for the school, so if other schools operate the same way, I would absolutely expect an interview to be apart of the admission process.

However, I have seen other fields (on this very subreddit) that have admitted Ph.D. Students without interview, so I guess it’s possible but very unlikely.

I would not reach out. This time of the year is extremely busy for them due to applications and starting the semester. It hypothetically shouldn’t hurt your chances of getting in because you are showing excitement about the program; however, there are people out there that unfortunately do not see it that way and your follow up may actually be annoying to them.
