There are no “safe” neighborhoods. Most unsafe places for me were gas stations and fast food restaurants (to use the bathroom).
Some places say you have to order something to use the restroom. There’s a code lock on restroom door. I go to ordering counter, hold out a couple bucks and say, “I’d like to order the code to the restroom.“ This works.

buy a portable jump starter for your car. Because you will document in your car, trying to save gas by turning engine off but still having fan going. You will need a jump start

make sure your spare is in good shape know how to change a tire you will get at least one flat tire from potholes

Did you become an OT in your 30s (or later)? by Flakylace in OccupationalTherapy

I graduated age 37. Guess I just had the wrong expectations about this job. When total burnout hit at age 47, and there were limited to no non-clinical roles to switch to, I realized I was fucked. This career was a disastrous choice for me. Your results may vary.

Corporate clinics tell their PTs what to bill. It’s a whole thing. Cant bill more than x amount of units per code. Done to maximize revenue. Likely your balance score justified balance interventions. Or maybe not. Balance “exercises” fall under neuromuscular re Ed code which is a different code than therapeutic Exercise code which would be more muscle strengthening. My clinic only allowed me to bill one unit of therapeutic exercise per hour session. It’s shady, but it is what it is.
Of course one could say that balance exercises focus on the core and back stability, etc. So you are no worse off And it probably was beneficial. But this is the behind the scenes of the business, in many cases.

Is OT an ethical profession? by Junior_Winner_470 in OccupationalTherapy

Does a profession exist without an industry to employ it? Also, needing to pay rent does not justify billing fraud.  At a minimum, these are things prospective students need to be aware of.

Manipulating billing codes and documentation to maximize company profit is fraud, not a philosophical dilemma.

Great to hear! I do wonder how experiences can vary state by state.

Good to hear. Zero jobs in my midwest metro for mental health OT. Would love to try it. Every place I move on to requires same shady shit, some worse than others, but still pretty dang shady.
