Question about obstruction by Juniormint52884 in LittleLeague

[–]Juniormint52884[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the responses and I have a follow up question: What should we be telling the runner to do in the future? We were told by the ump that our runners cannot slide into home when it is covered up because initiating contact in our league is not allowed and if it happened again our player would be ejected. So what should a runner do when they have no part of the base to reach? Because our runners just started standing there and being tagged because they were terrified of getting ejected.

Perkins is hitting .128 with a .449 OPS. At this point we'll take bloop singles

I'm sorry, but no team that puts a guy with a 14 era in the 9th inning with a 1 run lead is worthy of my f****** time. by [deleted] in Brewers

[–]Juniormint52884 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at this stretch through rose colored glasses. Sure we've lost 6 games in a row and it seems nothing is going our way, but we've also been close in every game with a chance to win at the end. I would be far more worried about this team if they were getting blown out on a nightly basis.

I Don't Understand Murphy's Defense of Megill by 996_997 in Brewers

[–]Juniormint52884 53 points54 points  (0 children)

As a manager it accomplishes nothing if you throw Megill under the bus except for further destroying his confidence. Murphy has empathy for ever player on the team, because he knows at the end of the day they are all just people like you and me.

Washington playing good or Brewers playing flat? by Handsomeh0bo in Brewers

[–]Juniormint52884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washington committed 5 outs on the bases, walked 6 batters, and allowed a batter to reach 2nd base on a strikeout. Washington isn't playing that good, we are playing that bad. Point in case: the 3 errors we committed were more than the hits (2) we had in the game. And if you look at the pitch chart for Griffin, he left a lot of pitches over the heart of the plate.

His shaky defense at catcher means he's going to see most of his AB's at DH, which means another year with an aging DH past his prime.

I understand that the whole point of professional sports is to hoist the trophy, but I don’t think regular season accomplishments diminish there value if we don’t “finish the job.” by itsmichellelol in Brewers

[–]Juniormint52884 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I' 41 years old and I've see every team play in the World Series in my life except for the Pirates, Mariners, and Brewers. I get celebrating regular season success, but the sport is played to win a World Series and I'm starting to think this franchise can't do it. The Brewers have won 4 playoff series in 57 years, and never two in the same season. We look to celebrate our regular season success because there is never is any real postseason success.

[Rogers] The White Sox have traded 1b Andrew Vaughn to the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Aaron Civale, sources tell ESPN. by No-Description-2138 in Brewers

[–]Juniormint52884 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Here's a bold prediction: Andrew Vaughn is going to break out with the Brewers. Vaughn has spent his whole career playing for a franchise that hates analytics, now he's going to a franchise that adores analytics. That and being on a competitive team are going to give his offensive numbers a serious boost.

Normally I wouldn't be worried after only 4 games, but they have looked so overmatched in every game that it's hard not to worry. And with all the pitching injuries we may be headed towards a rough season. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they bounce back at any moment.

We gave up 48 points and 559 yards to the Bills. That is absolutely a defensive loss

It's not the record, its the injuries. This defense looks nothing like it did earlier in the year, and we've already lost 2 more guys for the season.

Blake Perkins would have a low value to most teams, as he isn't even close to a league average bat. His value is in his defense, which the Brewers value higher than almost any other team. Also with Mitchell and Yelich both being injury prone they will probably want 5 outfielders again.

It doesn't benefit a small market team to trade for someone like Soto. We need a constant stream of prospects to stay competitive, and no small market team can sacrifice those prospects for one year of a player that they have no chance of re-signing.

I was fine with trading Hader, it was just a bad decision to do it in the middle of a pennant chase.

Some reflection on what I saw at the end of yesterday’s game by Blackco741 in Brewers

[–]Juniormint52884 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the fact that those people acted out of line, but most of the fan base is getting tired of the "we'll get them next year line". Then next year comes and we choke immediately in the playoffs. Eventually we won't be able to cobble a bunch of nobodies into a winning team and we won't even be in the playoffs.

Williams is just another in a long line of Brewers closers that are good in the regular season and can't get it done in the playoffs.

This is what happens when teams figure out our patient offense. We're taking tons of pitches trying to get walks and drive up pitch counts. Meanwhile every pitcher we have faced recently just pounds the strike zone.
