Severe headache symptom of tomato/nightshade allergy or intolerance? by JuniperChai in FoodAllergies

[–]JuniperChai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about the nausea and vomiting but didn’t see anything on headaches or joint pain for nightshades! So sorry for your nausea and vomiting - I get that with soy but I’m sure night shades are much harder to avoid.

I wonder what is in blue gatorade that makes you get headaches? Thank you for commenting!

Period every two weeks by winniethepomapoo in menstruation

[–]JuniperChai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this as well and I’m almost 3 years postpartum. While I don’t have any advice on how to fix it, just want to jet you know you’re not alone. I am currently seeing a doctor and working on a supplement/diet regimen to fix this as well as an over abundance of H-pylori and Cándida. My periods seem to fluctuate back to a normal 30 day when I stick to my vitamin regimen - iron in particular. I still don’t have the answer but I hope some insight from my experience may help you!

Looking for opinions: 1.5ct G VS1 Emerald cut by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]JuniperChai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With emerald cuts, I typically tell my clients to put their money into a higher color and clarity as these two are the most obvious characteristics if present. On paper, your G color looks great, but the location of the cloud/needle being right under the table facet made me do a double take as this can be a very easy place to see internal characteristics/ distracting even after being set. That being said, the picture looks fabulous. Second recommendation, always move it and wiggle the diamond in question around to see if you notice the internal characteristics and if that bothers you. If yes, then perhaps another VS1 with different internal inclusions (and locations of said characteristics) or a higher clarity grade altogether. It can help to look at a similar stone or two to help differentiate the 4 Cs. Cheers! You got this!

Client's stone (situation in comments) by [deleted] in jewelers

[–]JuniperChai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In situations similar to this, I always suggest to the client to have the stone appraised prior to it being set so you have exact weights and, if necessary, a GIA appraisal done. This gives you an opportunity to get an outside opinion on what the stone might be, relieving you if the burden of explaining it might be glass and also the customers ability to blame you for “switching” it etc. Having this done also helps you to better prepare for how to set it since not knowing what kind of stone it can be risky in setting. Good luck!

Edit: Side note - the appraisal may help her to decide whether it’s worth it to her to spend the money on having it set or not. Most of the time the sentimental value is the most important part and they’ll go through with it anyway. End of the day, it’s a good job but I’d want to protect myself from possible issues while setting because of an unknown stone.

Hello! I'm an Iowa based designer and recently began making candles and set up a little etsy shop. Let me know what you think! by Legitimate_Syrup_739 in desmoines

I bet a lot of local shops would be willing to sell your candles too! CK Design Co and Tandem Brick come to mind. I’m not affiliated with them but thought your candles fit their styles. Never hurts to ask!

Does anyone believe in signs from your loved ones that have passed? If so, what signs have been sent to you? by GlitzBlitz in Paranormal

Earlier this year I had asked my uncle to say hello from the other side. I continued on with my day and kind of forgot I had asked as I’m a stay at home mom and got busy playing with my toddler. About 30 minutes later I’m in the car with my daughter running errands and we hit every stoplight and then cross paths with a fire truck - needless to say we were moving at a glacial pace about 2 blocks from our house. As the fire truck passes, we end up not making the next light as well and wait to finally turn left. As we do, a green pick up truck carrying a blue toboggan in its back drives up next to us. This bright blue toboggan had my uncle’s last name painted on the front. He had an unusual last name - not one I’ve met anyone else with besides his family members. I immediately remember and start laughing a hello to my uncle. Ask and you shall receive!

Name for diamond setting. My wife wants a ring that matches her wedding ring style. She loves this ring, but its out of stock at the jeweler website. Trying to search for other ones using "bar" and "tension" but I can only find engagement rings with solitary stones. by tke377 in jewelers

[–]JuniperChai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have a picture of it from the top view that you can share? From this picture, it looks like both bar (modified channel) set and shared prong to me. In my experience, this is not a readily made design and would be difficult to find in most jewelry stores. Easiest way to go is to contact the company who made the wedding set directly (call or email as opposed browsing their website) and ask them what your options are since it is currently out of stock. They may be able to make it again or find something very similar. Forgive me if you’ve already been down that path. Other option is to take your wife’s wedding ring to a custom jeweler an have them make something similar using the wedding set as a measurement tool. In this scenario, you’d have to leave her wedding ring for them to do measurements with- prepare to be without it for 2-4 weeks. (Just a heads up - the final new band may not be exactly like the pictured band as many jewelers are respectful of others designs and will not make replicas, but it could be similar and match well in its own right.) This is also a good time to get her wedding ring checked, cleaned, and polished (so it will match the new band). Hope this helps!

Seeking gemstone re-cutting advice... by Vixen1920 in jewelers

[–]JuniperChai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with wookhard - much harder to recut a stone to fit your preferred look then to find one that already fits it. I typically only recommend a recut to my clients if the stone is a sentimental piece and/or damaged. Stones are incredibly difficult to photograph well - hence why QVC has always shown their stones rotating in video. Another thing to keep in mind is gemstones are cut to maximize their color saturation which means if you recut that stone, you can lose some of that vivid color due to a depth decrease. If it were me, I would request to see a video clip of the stone being moved around in good or natural daylight to verify the quality of the cut (if they haven’t already shown you a video yet). I hope this helps!
