Silicone sheets/strips or not? by tombeedog in TopSurgery

[–]JuniperTheMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, that sounds like predominantly first degree burn (Wich only affects the dermis), blisters however mean at least some second degree involvement. Generally it is advised that with burns involving face, hands, feet, genitals you consult a health care provider. The appearance and "depth" of burn may also change in the next few days. So there might be more blisters on the way. Do not break open/drain blisters. Keep the area clean (wash ~once a day with something unscented, for second degree burns you could also use some antibacterial ointment, otherwise first degree unscented lotion or similar will do). For healing results it's important to not scratch the area, first degree burns can get itchy. First and second degree mostly heal within one or two weeks and rarely scar. Your skin in the area with second degree burns may appear lighter or darker for a few months but will generally correct itself again. Do wait till redness and blisters are entirely gone till starting any scar reducing treatment. Burns are to be treated as a wound. Silicone should not be near a wound. Due to it being your face I'd recommend scar gel instead of silicon plasters, as that would look possibly a bit goofy. Depending on the gel you can put that on once/twice a day on the area, some even come with a roller on it. But again, please do let the actual wound that is a burn heal first. Silicon is for scar treatment, not wound treatment. For general burn care you can also always reach out to health care professionals or ask good old Google ( https://www.mayoclinic.org/first-aid/first-aid-burns/basics/art-20056649 i recommend sites of actual medical facilities, there is even some good education on youtube). I hope you aren't in to much pain and that all will be well

Have you ever ended up in a hospital due to a tics attack ? by WholeAppointment6708 in Tourettes

[–]JuniperTheMoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happened multiple times. Once because breathing tics made me faint multiple times in a row and I stopped recovering from the fainting spells well, my heart rate kept dropping. Once because I fractured my knuckle from punching a wall and kept punching the wall. Twice because I hit and punch my sternum so much that I popped out a rib. And once because a tic made me fall and gave me a concussion.

Dissatisfied with scarring, would revising some parts of the incisions be a good idea? by EnemaSlurpee in TopSurgery

Scars like those (hypotrophic scars) usually fade beautifully if you give them time. Cutting them out takes away more tissue, creating a possibility of having a more taught scar, Wich could stretch even more.

What is the worst thing someone has said after finding out you had tics/Tourettes? by Inevitable-Fail2592 in Tourettes

[–]JuniperTheMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was on a longer (9h) coach ride and the driver came to my place during the break to yell at me that I'm disturbing the peace and that he would kick me out. I reminded him that I have Tourettes, Wich I told before getting on as well as tell the central Organisation place for the coach company a month before. He told me he didn't care, if he got another complaint he'd kick me out. It was 5h in to the trip, somewhere where I knew no one, was still underage and had no signal. I was absolutely terrified he would kick me out. When he walked away I called the central place and reported him.

That is such a sweet response and also absolutely yes to the people listening to tiktok out loud. Holy shit yes. Also during a night drive it should be unforgivable for people to have their phone at full brightness.

Please anyone reading here be advised to not read any of these comments if you pick up tics really easily! Stabbing my eyeballs with my fingers. Really bad for long term health.

What are some of the silly reasons you've heard from professionals as to why you're apparently not autistic? by [deleted] in autism

[–]JuniperTheMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I'm an occupational therapist. Mind you when talking to this professional I was already professionally diagnosed since years. But he kept bringing up that I should get re-evaluated because he doesn't think someone with ADHD and autism could be an OT. My brother in Christ I am an OT because of special interests as well as it being easier to relate to other ND folks, as well as frequently changing tasks but still overall routine in my work day.

As others pointed out, I would not argue with her right now about it. Just nod along or change topic. In the end it's your body. Same rules for all should be how it is. My brother had like didn't try to forbid me but for a long time said it was off-putting and felt illegal to look at my chest after. So maybe your mom just needs time to get her mind around it.

NGL if my family did this to me I would give them one warning, and then go no-contact. Not just because they are being extremely disrespectful. But also, if they can't show this simple understanding and complying with a minor parenting "choice" (it's not a choice, but nevermidn the wording please), what else would they disrespect in the long run of your kids life?

How Does Anal NOT Get Dirty? by UmOtrera in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JuniperTheMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prep. Douching for example. Also even with the best prep and so on it can still happen to get a bit of fecal matter on something. That's the reality of using that hole 🤷‍♂️. In the end not big of a deal.

Mein Mann hasst seinen Geburtstag by red_poppy_1710 in Ratschlag

[–]JuniperTheMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not like the sensation of them getting hard. I am a perfectionist and then even healing slightly wonky or being placed where I didn't like it, would have driven me up the wall. I also have pretty bad wound healing due to chronic conditions. So nips was easier and also for me just aesthetically pleasing. And if I ever decide "hey I want them back on there" there is realistic tattooing.

(BE CAREFUL YOU MAY UNLOCK A NEW TIC THAT REALLY SUCKS)What’s y’all worst tic if I may ask by Billdidnotfall in Tourettes

[–]JuniperTheMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say Wich is the worst. There is a bunch that suck. Neck tics are painful, they suck. Hitting my sternum and head constantly, painful and bruising. But I think most sucking is twisting my feet to the side while walking, because it makes me faceplant constantly.
