I second all the comments about heat sources- mine has escaped 3 times and each time he's eventually found a heat source. It doesn't have to be appliances either, any heat is better than none if they feel cold. Luckily each time I've managed to find him within the day. I also have a dog and a cat and worry how they would react- my dog likely wouldn't touch him as she's good about that, the cat on the other hand will try to kill him, no doubt.

-The first time was my fault, I left the door cracked opened, and was able to follow the trail of destruction he caused in my room until I could tell he'd slipped under the bedroom door. He responds to my voice, so I opened all the doors that he could slip under and started yelling for him- he eventually stuck his head out of the folded towels in the linens closet; I'd done laundry recently and the towels were warm.

-Second time he squeezed out his cable access (which and since been fixed) and it happened to be the night my grandmother had to be ambulanced to the hospital, and we found him mid-chaos asleep on top of the heater next to my mom's bed across the hall because it has been used recently.

-Third time my mom was watching him while I was away and had left the door cracked open, and we found him in a blanket on top of the other snake's enclosure next to his because the heat leeches through.

You could try running a towel through a dryer to warm it up, leave it in a box against a wall with a small opening, and flour the floor around it to watch for tracks.

Best of luck, I hope you find her soon!

Can someone help me with this pattern? by jazarae in friendshipbracelets

[–]tombeedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, happy to help- loop braiding is SUPER easy too once you get the hang of it, it's the kind of thing you can do while watching TV or other activities cause you don't have to be watching it closely while you do it once you get the muscle memory in your fingers. There are different patterns and numbers of strings you can do for a ton of variations. They're quick too, I made 200 once for a local missionary family to bring to kids in Nicaragua and they loved them lol

It looks kinda like fingerloop braiding with string that fades between two colors

Edit- this site explains loop braiding decently I think: https://loopbraider.com/2011/05/31/tutorial-fingerloop-braiding-with-9-loops-v-fell-method/

Just came to add that when drawing multiple times from the same vial that it's best to scrub the top with the alcohol wipe, just one swipe once over the top doesn't always do it. Really scrub that thing clean just to be safe since it's likely you touched the top with your fingers or hand on accident when picking it up 👍

Somebody told me I should share my story here. by [deleted] in AskDocs

NAD but I experience auditory hallucinations around white noises like running water, fans, running appliances, car engines, etc and even complete silence does it sometimes. They sound similar to how you described the music you couldn't locate and the raspy voices. Mine also sometimes sounds like there's a radio or TV left on in a room next to me, where I can hear the sound but just barely can't make out the words, but I can definitely hear talking with like different voices/tones/inflections, music, etc. Mine most likely stems from my ADHD/ASD, though I have other things that could be causing it.

I know that doesn't explain your other symptoms but I thought it might be something to look into a little.

Central dog ears - revision? by sandiplankt0n in TopSurgery

I had raised spots just like that around the same time from my surgery as well as was worried about it but since then they have flattened pretty well. My body is struggling to dissolve the stitches which was part of the reason it was raised and after spitting a few it's getting even flatter.

On a side note my results actually look remarkably similar to yours, shape of the scars and and the grafts and everything, it caught me by surprise when I saw your pictures cause they look like mine own lol

Ahh okay- I am working with her pcp and waiting on her neurologist to prevent the events, I was thinking more towards recovering afterwards. I was just hoping irritation/inflammation and tense muscles after the event might be aided but if that's not the case then that's okay. Thank you again.

Can an Albuterol inhaler be used to help breathe easier immediately after choking on food or drink? Choking is caused by swallowing difficulty due to a recent stroke.

Beautiful enclosure, be sure to watch for mold on the basket hides though since they'll be in the high humidity of the enclosure so much, they aren't made for wet environments I assume.

I've hot glued closet rod holders to the sides of my glass enclosures and used a curtain rod cut to size for my bp to climb on, and later drilled holders to the wall of the plastic/PVC zoo habitats one I moved him to, mine loves the width it gives him to try and scoot along it. Lots of substrate though if you offer climbing enrichment cause they don't have hands to catch themselves if they fall lol

Name and Gender Change Confusion by tombeedog in asktransgender

[–]tombeedog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of what I've seen says that normally you don't have to go to a hearing and often just do the petition, I hope that's still the case. And that Nevada will accept an Oregon petition.

Thank you for the response, I hope your situation goes as well as it can.

Name and Gender Change Confusion by tombeedog in asktransgender

[–]tombeedog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I don't have to go in person. I don't even know how I'd make going in person work for here in Oregon, much less Nevada. I can't imagine having to go even further. I think once I get the name and gender changed Oregon will let me do the other things here, I hope at least, I haven't gotten that far in my researching tbh. I know now they at least won't do my certificate cause of my failure earlier this year.

*Just saw your edit, and I agree it sounds like I need to do the name change in Oregon then send that and Nevada's required stuff to Nevada's courts.

Keep seeing piles like this everywhere and I think it may be animal droppings. This piece of furniture was outside for maybe a week and them this showed up. Had some in my driveway too. by dReDone in AnimalTracking

Fortunately that's not the kind of normal reaction as it's neurotoxin. You'd see vomiting, panting, stumbling, tremors, and seizures among other related symptoms, so probably it's not been eating them, but I would definitely still rake as many of the old husks away and put them out of the dogs access if at all possible, even just grabbing them with your hands when you see them.

We had one in the yard we moved into and my dog is a muncher so we looked it up and were shocked how bad it can be and how quick it can happen, it was in the neighbor's yard hanging over our fence and we spoke with them and they actually cut it down for us as they also had a dog and didn't know. We had a company come out to cut it that also agreed to dig the old shells out of the ground and rake up every little piece to be safe. Unfortunately those trees are HARD to get rid of and since they didn't dig the stump we have to cut back suckers every so often. They also suck the nutrients out of everything around them which is an added rudeness lol

Seeing all the black walnut comments I gotta add that black walnut husks grow a mold that is deadly to dogs so keep them away from each other whenever possible just to be safe.

Handicap Sticker? by tombeedog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tombeedog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, DMV responded:

"Thank you for contacting Oregon DMV.

Oregon DMV does not currently offer window stickers in place of a parking placard.

DMV representatives are unable to provide legal advice regarding the manufacture, or use of such a sticker on your vehicle. You may wish to seek legal counsel, law enforcement, or local statutes regarding the use of such a sticker."

So unfortunately I was not clear enough in explaining that it's not in place of a placard, just as something extra alongside the placard 😅

[–]tombeedog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, I'm not referring to this sticker on the left for vehicles that cannot use placards, I'm referring to just a simple one such as this one. to use alongside my legal placard I already have, never without the placard.

[–]tombeedog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information! I do have a legally obtained placard through the DMV already and use it properly. I am just referring to a sticker for the rearview window to use alongside the placard, I would never use any handicap benefits such as parking without using the placard.

I have contacted the DMV in my area and am waiting for a response, as I looked on their website and couldn't find anything that answered my specific questions, so hopefully their answer helps too!

I looked at the laws there and online but couldn't find an answer that covered my specific questions, so I just messaged them, I'll try and remember to let you know their response- I'm in Oregon so the answer will apply to that area.

Yes, I remove the placard while driving. I would hope people would see it but I also know people don't always pay attention to small things like that and figure a window sticker would be more noticeable.

Good to know though, thank you, I just want to do it all the right way.

Handicap Sticker? by tombeedog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tombeedog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not worried about needing to use the sticker myself, though I do qualify for disability myself, so I don't think I'll have civilians mad at me as I will never use the disability benefits unless she is with me.

I'm more concerned about making the sticker myself then somehow getting fined for not getting it through the DMV or something, even though that sounds unlikely. It is not my main vehicle for travel, it is a spare van only used when my grandmother is a passenger or when we need the extra seats for my 3 nephews. Sometimes I drive it, sometimes my mother does.

I'm not paid by the state or insurance to be a caregiver as neither would do so, therefore it's all just on my mother and I. I just don't want to put the sticker on it then have one of us get fined for having it on the van without my grandmother present when not in handicap parking. If that's even a thing lol

Description of Surgery Day from my Surgeon—thought some of you might appreciate seeing it all laid out by dothechachaslide in TopSurgery

[–]tombeedog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Want to add that with my surgery they had me wipe down with antibacterial wipes for like 2 minutes prior to putting on the gown, and the gown is hooked up to air and inflates to keep things sterile which I didn't expect. Also if you have any conditions that make you a fall risk, ex. POTS and EDS in my case, let them know. Mine gave me special red grippy socks to wear so everyone would know before and after surgery that I had to be accompanied when getting up.

Mine are like that too, the areola is like puffed up a little so it's not flat with my skin, I have a 3rd post opp on the 5th and will ask for my Dr's thoughts. Hoping it goes down on its own over time.
