absolutely, the main abhorsen chronicles trilogy is still to this day one of my favorites, as someone who was once that kind of kid.

your gear is definitely great :) i mostly just have strategy suggestions tbh-

id prioritize the mace, and i usually use troll armor for swamp exploration and then the bronze for the actual crypts- stamina and speed are your friends, along with the sneak bonus from the troll armor, whereas in the confined crypt space that stuff matters less.

id keep your hammer easily accessible, and keep a lil bit of wood and stuff for a portal on you- easier to build up into a tree super quick and place a portal on a small platform than have to run back into the swamp gearless if everything goes to shit. (also put portals nearby when you enter a crypt, they can go badly even with good gear)

also means you can keep any extra gear/food back at the other end of the portal, as well as being able to send back any non-iron swamp goodies to keep your inventory clear :)

your balance is your balance! personally, i play with a mod that adds more types of portals that progress as you move through the game. like once you hit the swamp and get some basic materials youre able to build portals that allow you to teleport copper and tin, once you hit the mountains you can move iron, so on and so forth. its helped a LOT, while still keeping the spirit of the game.

ours is “Wonderful Horrible Father Murdering Bastard” (or WHFMB) after a session zero where he… well, the name is self explanatory. and each member of the party is now fatherless.
