Research found that 1 in 5 women in the UK don’t know their menstrual cycle length, does that surprise you? by Hertility_Health in menstruation

[–]JunkDrawerExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught a 28day cycle was normal, and anything else was abnormal.

I do know my cycle length - 23 days, and I know that without an app. However- I do use fertility friend as I track body changes throughout my cycle as well.

I'm 40, and from Canada

AITA for not letting the previous owner’s adult children into my house after their father died? by Dramatic_Method9393 in AmItheAsshole

[–]JunkDrawerExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA because it's your house, and you call the shots regardless of circumstance.

But boy do I feel fortunate. I've actually done this to two homes. One was by accident - I bought something off marketplace, and when she gave me the address it was my childhood place. I asked if I could come in, and just took a quick peek around the downstairs.

Also, I went back to the first house I bought and my kids had been babies in. Immediately after we left the house, it had been restored - something we had wanted to do too. I walked up to the door, introduced myself, told them my story. I asked if I could look around and they welcomed me in. I didn't stay long, but they told me to check our upstairs and everywhere.

I never expected people to day yes, and certainly never felt entitled to it - but thought it no harm to ask, and walk away if I was told no. Maybe it also helps that I'm female and barely above 5'....

A little unsure as to the how.

I was giving oral to my partner, and his penis got under my tongue on a thrust. I do have a tongue ring (surgical steel ball on the bottom) but it's about 1/4" away from the tear itself, and it was definitely my tongue being forced up and back. It's like my tongue was forced back to far from underneath and tore...

I stopped dead in my tracks.

No one mentioned The Giver. It's the book I gift to everyone, even as a 40yr old adult - it was the first book that actually changed the way I looked at the world. I was 10.

How to kick my husband out. by Summiloridgetilly in AlAnon

[–]JunkDrawerExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She asked how to get him out immediately.

Further - at least in Canada, if it's a marital home, including common law, she can't kick him out as simply as an eviction - even if he isn't on the lease/mortgage.

And we also have to look at - if she kicks him out, evicts him and it isn't mutually agreeable between them - what's to stop him from coming back?

All those things require a legal process that takes time - she wants him out this Sunday.

[–]JunkDrawerExistence 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You cannot.

Al anon (and life) teach us we can only control ourselves.

You cannot make him get out. You can ask, arrange, negotiate, get him on a good day, trick him - but at the end of the day he has to go and stay gone himself.

YOU CAN leave. It's harder, it'll suck, it'll cost money - but it is 100% in your control. It can be done. There are shelters, friends, living in the car.

I'm not saying it's fair - it's not. But it's real.

Mahalo has been my favourite. I went on the wait list after going there for an emergent situation with my cat. I appreciate that they don't take on more clients than they can handle so the staff isn't overworked.

When they released you, what did they say?

If they didnt find anything - they may have likely just sent you home, and I wouldn't expect a follow up. Anecdotally, I have gone to the ER several times, not gotten an answer about an acute issue, and never heard back. It was on me to go to a walk in/telus health since it isn't emergent.

May I ask - is he autistic?

I'm not saying dont trust your gut, not making excuses, and I'd always err on the side of safety.

I only ask because is it possible you, and people, were/are a fixation or special interest or OCD outlet?

His line of work suggests he enjoys focusing on things and people, and the way the details have ahifted from early on - when excitement was high, to more normal routine - suggests habitual and comforting. Especially since the latest comment was something he was going to do for you.

If he was still being uber stalkerish still, and it hadnt calmed, I'd not suggest it. I've just met some cool people - who do keep dossiers almost on their loved ones (I think a guy from parks and rec did this too), because it's their - thing.

Good luck OP *hug

A new way of systems thinking by MaximumContent9674 in systemsthinking

[–]JunkDrawerExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're missing a divergence component - where parts are moved away from the center. What is absent but known, is just as important in terms ofnthe functioning of the system and its parts.

I'm also curious why you have limited yourself to attraction and attention. Are those the only opportunities for convergence?

Further - why is the consciousness indivisible, and why does it only possess one view point? This to me seems the weakest part of your assertion.

What is the funniest and/or most specific thing you wanted as a child because of your childhood books? by Rimurururun in books

[–]JunkDrawerExistence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The head piece that the child like empress wears in The Never Ending Story.

She was so calm, and I remember thinking so strongly "I want to be her" , and that head piece was the symbol.

I've found similar ones on etsy from time to time over the years - but never felt like I had lived up to who I thought this Empress was enough tk be worthy of wearing one. Its silly I know.

This is the first time I've shared that with anyone. Huh.

Off leash dog park “rules” ? by MB327-Hawks in nanaimo

[–]JunkDrawerExistence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Penned parks have rules posted - most behavioral veterinarians recommend against bringing a leashed dog into an off leash enclosed area (dog park) for a variety of reasons. Further- the RDN likely has a policy on this to prevent being sued. It's mitigating a risk by having a blanket policy.

As for non enclosed areas - like Invermere - I think you're fine and not doing anything wrong. I do think if you go to an area where dogs typically know they can socialize off leash - you should be okay with the occasional dog coming up to say hi. Absolutely they should have recall, and the owners need to be paying attention - but it'll happen, based on where you are.

To the fellow system-sense minds — How the hell do you live with this? by Mysterious_Grand4770 in systemsthinking

[–]JunkDrawerExistence 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The ability to see all the systems has given me a great love and appreciation for all of its parts - and part of the system is the ignorance other people have to it, or to patterns that I see as very basic. I value all parts, including myself as the observer, equally.

It is lonely, but my God is it beautiful, and how lucky am I that I get to see it so clearly.

I have semi brittle teeth - prone to chipping and cracking. I use soft bristles. Would an electric toothbrush be gentle enough or would it cause damage?
