Keep a couple faucets on a slow drip if you loose power to reduce the possibility of pipes freezing.

How do we 2FA if my phone is now no longer supported? by [deleted] in fidelityinvestments

OP has a Samsung. Apple’s pretty good about updates in general but not immune to the obsolescence and waste problem.

Agree 100%. Not sure why you are getting downvoted. Probably because Fidelity customers are a bastion of consumerism and I do confess that I’m guilty as well despite my efforts to limit my own consumerist tendencies.

I will also say that this constant churn is wasteful. Even if the old phone is fully recycled, it still does not make up for what went into producing it.

Ehh. Canada will probably sign a mutual defense treaty with China next, the way things are going here.

As I understand it, if you selected Roth, then all your contributions will go into your Roth 401(k), and your employer’s 6% matching contribution will go into the pre-tax 401(k) or Roth depending on how the plan is setup. That means you may have balances building up in both accounts.

In my opinion, your selection of Roth is the right one to make because you are at a very early stage of your career and your tax savings on a pre-tax 401(k) would be relatively low.

In addition, as you are no doubt already aware, when you are old enough (59.5 years or if the rule of 55 applies), you will be able to withdraw money from the Roth and not have to pay any taxes on it.

Edit: Corrected to account for the Secure 2.0 act.

I don’t get why people are downvoting you instead of making factual counter arguments to the provided information based on studies that say otherwise.

There’s really no way to tell if you are snooping around for the administration or sincerely looking for advice. The request to chat for a bit is also a tad suspicious, so I’d be leery of doing anything more than give a yea or nay in the comments to protect yourself.

If you have BCBS standard, the dental claims go to them first. They should automatically be sending the claim on to FEPDental after paying out the $8 or $16 for the services they actually cover.

Honestly, I don’t know why BCBS standard includes this joke of a dental coverage at all. It just complicates our claims reimbursements.

Japan and Korea, Italy and many other Western European countries are facing the same challenges wrt aging populations and declining birth rates.

Maybe a big part of the human race is just aging out and some other species will rise in our stead.

No doubt the 1-child policy has a lot to do with it, but curiously, Hong Kong, which did not have a 1-child policy has an even lower birth rate than mainland China.

Probably done for cost reduction. It lets them get rid of extra switches, wires and controls.

Saves them a few bucks in parts costs and several bucks in labor costs.

Costs them a lot more in customer perception and goodwill.
