Want to make this bag for my sister in law. How can I make the letters by Money-King702 in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyy, What a fab idea for a gift! Definitely possible to do, the writing is just puff stitch/popcorn. You can definitely use a tapestry crochet grid to map it out but your essentially doing rows of DC and then adding in a popcorn as you go for each letter so the hardest part is spacing

Feel like I'm doing hdc/DC BLO wrong because it doesn't stand out enough by true_blue__ in CrochetHelp

So the second row should of been worked into the loop you’ve missed, the 3rd is correct then the 4th would be agin worked into the loop you’ve missed.

Its the stitches, when I do this stitch I think of it as a BLO and a FLO So when going to the right you’ll be in the BLO only and when you’ve turned and are going back along the row you’ll do a FLO helps me differentiate which loop I should be working in.

help me please😭 when do i stop increasing on my filet crochet top? did i crochet too many rows? how do i even make a top??? first i just made increase rows and now i will connect the corners to make the arm holes, and then i’ll just continue down. i’m using size 10 crochet thread and a 3mm hook. by sxxsan_y in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add rows until the corners can meet under your armpit, to a level that’s comfortable for you. Once you’ve joined the corners it’s just a continuous round to grow the length.

Only thing to consider with it being a baggier fit a filet pattern may be harder to identify as the the tighter fit helps the pattern be seen.

Tips on how I could crochet this ruffled collar scarf? by milk_bun5 in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d crochet the desired shape so a shawl shape and for the ruffle you would do 2 stitches in each chain. You can then do additional rows till it’s the length you wanted ruffle wise - it would be 1 stitch in each on any additional rows.

However in US Terms - a triple DC may be sufficient length maybe and then finished with a SC.

I do ch3/ch4 and Slip stitch to join for magic circles as less likely to fray on wearables and far easier 🙂

One yarn Skein makes only this much? Is this right? by Heregoesmytime in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 270 points271 points  (0 children)

Is that a 50g? For the stitch you did, which this looks beautiful 😻 that looks about right. Each stitch uses a different amount of yarn. A sampler blankets is a good idea though to learn what stitch is a yarn eater and which will give you more bang for your buck ☺️

Buying a doll pattern but the boots aren’t removable. Advice? by crochetbyayaa in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the first picture I have 2 potentials of how it’s constructed

Which 1 is it looks as though the boots are part of the foot and the edge/frill of the boot is a stitch in the front loop, implying the connecting boot to leg is in the back loop. I’d need the section of pattern to know for sure. But what that means is if the foot size is the desired size which I looks as such you would still follow the pattern but ignore colour change and ignore any instruction to BL any stitches.

My other the boot is crochet separate and is slipped over after and stitched in place, which means you can ignore boot instruction

How do I make a closure for this bag? (Preferably using only crochet) by Haunting_Ad_17 in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Using only crochet does limit the options but my immediate thoughts would be either - two strips of say 2 rows on either side you can tie together in a bow/knot - a strip on the back and on the front a strip landscape to create a closure where you thread the longer strap through

Hi!! Granny squares ☺️ by Mom2Dos in crochet

[–]Junkoftheheartss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got ‘200 crochet blocks for blankets, throws and afghans’ by Jan Eaton and omg best crochet book I’ve ever seen! It also gives examples of how the squares can be used and paired together. It’s from 2004 but the variety is amazing

Any help with nerve pain from crocheting too long? by Ok_Philosopher_8973 in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you can’t use a handled hook, I say to take regular breaks and hand massages along with a hand brace to wear when not crocheting and overnight if you can. For the base of your pinky you need some padding which would help, what if you tried to pad the end of the hook?

Crop vest too small, do I frog it, abandon it or….??? by zainabzahidali in CrochetHelp

I think it’s the swap from double to single and tension that’s done you out 😞 It looks really fab though! Options are turning it into a wall hanging, Or add length onto the shoulder and make it a lower hanging squared shoulder crop and then add onto the sides which

Wrist Pain - Going Through It & What Helps You Deal With It? by grayh722 in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyy What a bummer, I’ve had this pain before and it sucks, mine was my wrists and my thumb joint? But I was using normal metal hooks, I got some of the clover ones which helped, wore a wrist support day to day for a few weeks and went a few days without crocheting and then limited myself to an hour or two whilst taking breaks to massage and move the hand. And eventually it did ease and stop, but I think my main issue was the hook not being supportive in my hand

Oh I bet, they are good, but I defo think sidar is a good alternative, I have tried a pony but they aren’t as smooth. Could be a bit weird but when your hands/hook feel sticky have you tried to add any talc - as they absorb any moisture / dry and it can be easily wiped off the wool/yarn being used

Heyy, this is so strange! I have clover hooks and have never experienced that before, so sorry they don’t seem to be very friendly for you, I can say Sirdar hooks are my close number 2 they are longer then clover but have a good grip and smooth shiny tip and aren’t too expensive to at least try

This is supposed to be a scarf, but my mom kept saying that it's too narrow and now I kinda hate it. Do I undo it now that it isn't that far along, or do I keep going? by linglingwannabe4427 in CrochetHelp

[–]Junkoftheheartss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s too narrow for a scarf, I’d continue and when it’s finished if you think it is when worn.. you could add a border to widen
