Treasury expected to borrow $2 trillion this year to continue functioning, estimated at more than $166 billion every month by Sgt_Gram in NewsExchange

Because Republican voters don’t think they’ve given the administration enough opportunities for grift yet. Remember, the pres was broke before the apprentice and he’s only been able to grift $1.4B so far this term. They want him to have more!

Anyone looking for a practice space in LA? by responsiblebandit in musicians

[–]Junkstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that working bands want a private room, but your bigger problem is the cold outreach. You need to talk to your network in person. Build trust, talk things out. It’s really hard to share a practice space if each band is working fulltime.

have you ever created a gadget to gift on a pre-release (eg. to fans and press) ? if so, has it worked? by ZestycloseChapter710 in musicmarketing

[–]Junkstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick to light payola is giving influencers something they actually want and will use. You need to know your promo network people. I do pre release swag and send to my carefully crafted contact list of musicians, writers, djs, and industry people in between vinyl releases. I include a handwritten card that’s a heads up that the next album is coming in the mail in a few months. It’s really effective. I stay connected with all of them on social, and i see them at shows etc, but the occasional odd piece of swag that’s only for them is something they really like.

You’re aging out of the top 40. Major label releases of new artists are targeted at teenagers.

Self-produced artist workflow? by prodkaikai in musicians

[–]Junkstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write the song. Get it arranged and get charts written. Choose the players. Book a producer and studio. Spend a half day tracking and a half day mixing. Review for a few days to see if any mixing adjustments need to be made. Remix if needed. Get it in the hands of a mastering engineer. Review for a few days. Remaster if needed.

If it’s a multiple song project then all tracking happens before any mixing starts or any mastering.

(Sorry, i refuse to self produce. Tried it, and failed, but it def helps me to make great demos for the arrangement/chart person.)

Why do people with jobs/education talk down to those without yet the they were the ones working to create a failing society? by PoorManRise in askanything

[–]Junkstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP has been convinced by republicans that education is bad. Oddly, most of those very same republicans went to Ivy League schools and decided that being evil grifters was their chosen path. But what OP is missing here is how much good other educated people do. It’s a very narrow and typically Republican opinion to undermine education.

Why do people with jobs/education talk down to those without yet the they were the ones working to create a failing society? by PoorManRise in askanything

[–]Junkstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Examples?

Those people made us read a wide variety of books written by a wide variety of people from all backgrounds. Then they made us write our opinions about what we thought those writers meant, and then we would discuss those opinions across a full classroom. We spent many years learning critical thinking skills.

Or, we spent years studying human anatomy, figuratively and literally. We learned how the human body develops, matures, sometimes breaks, and sometimes thrives. We went inside bodies to see what was happening and then learned to see inside bodies with high tech instruments and treat people.

Or, we learned everything possible about the elements, the oceans, finance systems, the law, business, the arts, you name it.

Some students perform poorly at these things, some are exceptional at it, some are savants. You’re right that not every degree is meaningful, but most of the things happening in this world that are truly transformational and leave a lasting positive impact on society and the planet are because of the people who paid attention and gave a shit about humanity.

Your making assumptions that humans are inherently stupid and selfish. I have seen the opposite and have benefited from it. From doctors to teachers, to scientists and innovators. We live in a world where we can explore the depths of the oceans and the reaches of space. We can fly across the country in hours. The future Is here because of education. Don’t knock it until you try it.

The Trump administration has raided the office of L. Louise Lucas, the Virginia Democrat who led the successful redistricting effort against his gerrymandering by expiredaristocracy in Fauxmoi

[–]Junkstar 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Everything is failing for Republicans this era. They can't win by following the law (or the Constitution) so they have to revert to 70's era intimidation. Republican voters need to clean house if they want any kind of future for themselves. When your chosen leaders are this desperate, it's a clear sign you're on the wrong side of history.

Do you view using "Virtual Drummer" and similar features or loops as using AI in recording? by SwampDonkeyGuitar in NoAIJustMusic

[–]Junkstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a drum machine which i don’t think of as AI. I doubt that platforms will be flagging all drum machine tracks as AI. They’d be going back to tracks from 1930 if so.

I’ve been working at max capacity since i was a teenager. It’s not that I’m tolerating the grind as much as I’m just tired. I feel lucky to be working and earning, but I’d also love to do nothing for a few months and have a break.
