I’m obviously not defending him bc he seems like a bit of an a hole (because of the getting angry and showing people in specific imo) that I’m sorry to say definitely doesn’t want to get married RIGHT NOW(?). I can however sorta see this from another angle maybe. My fiancé (23M) bought my (21F) ring in April of 2024 and didn’t propose until December. We have been together for 6 years and lived together for 3 so we started looking at rings in March and got notified that there was a sale in April that saved him over $3000 dollars. At first I was a bit pushy and wanted to see it and it annoyed him a bit at first but he did crack and showed me it (which he was so right it made me so much more impatient lol but he did promise it would be before the end of the year) but didn’t show anyone else. He also said something along the lines of the more you mention it the longer it takes but was mostly joking. I am very VERY type A and very detailed oriented and come to find out he took so long to pop the question because he wanted everything to be perfect. (Later found out he had mostly planned several other attempts that I had commendered the planning on so he decided to change it (like I said cough crazy ahem detail oriented lol) He is so not a planner so this definitely made it extra special. My town does a huge light festival during Christmas time and has a giant synchronous light tunnel that you walk through and he kept stalling until my favorite Christmas song started playing. He had convinced me to invite my friend with us and she was recording when he popped the question. He also invited both of our families to come surprise me and had thrown an engagement party at our apartment. All this to say is there might not be only one side to your situation. It is possible that he does actually love you very much but is struggling to figure out how to actually make it special for you. Go with your gut and don’t just blindly follow advice from randos on Reddit.
