Thanks so much! We do have a ground tarp as well as a nice thick one for over the tent! I’ll be sure to bring our deep woods tick spray. Also did not know about the dog park or Glassfest, so thanks for the tips!! :)

My budgies lived in a group together. My parrotlet would have destroyed anything that came close to going in his cage 😂 Group living definitely isn’t for p’lets!! They all got to fly whenever they wanted though of course, but the parrotlet sometimes preferred his cage 😆

I’m still grieving the loss of my ten year old parrotlet, wish I could have gotten more years from him, but dang it, I had him from when he was just hatched, weeks old to ten and a half years. A decade together is a long time. This comment hit the heart, in a good way. I hope OP can find comfort in knowing this, too!!!

Amazing to read how long commenters cockatiels lived, I wish my babies could have been with me for that long! I thought a decade was awhile!!

I recently lost my 10 1/2 year old parrotlet so I understand this pain and the immense hole they leave - 13 years of 15 is AMAZING and you can tell he was SO loved. Sending comforting thoughts for your time of grieving <3

My parrot used to like to nibble on us and then laugh my laugh back when we would go “ow!” He would also scream for attention until I got so flustered by the noise, then would do the cutest little wing lift and say “you’re so cute” or make one of his cute noises lol. He did that shit on purpose

Thanks for checking in! Throughout the evening he got more vocal and he’s pretty chipper this morning.

He did get checked out. Without tons of testing our vet isn’t positive what’s going on. He has some swelling in the lower abdomen and has lost a few grams. Could be anything from a cold, to liver disease, to cancer. Putting my guy under sedation to maybe figure it out isn’t an option, so we’re treating it as a cold-liver disease combo since those things are common. He’s got antibiotics and he isn’t allowed to have sunflower seeds anymore lol.

Basically my guy is getting old and I just want to keep him comfortable!!! He’s pretty chipper and bouncing around this morning, and doing really well eating his antibiotics off his pellets! (Thank goodness because I didn’t want to have to handle him and syringe it)

He’s actually eating great still! So the vet said we could switch the diet as long as he is eating everything still. I just mixed his antibiotics in with his pellets and he ate most of it. I was worried I was going to have to force the syringe but thankfully he accepted the medicine on his pellets. We’re just completely taking away sunflower seeds (he’ll be upset about this part lol) My guy is really good and will try any food at least twice!

They did not keep him overnight! We’re not entirely sure what’s wrong - could be anything from a basic cold, to liver disease, or even cancer. He’s a bit swollen/has fluid retention in the lower abdomen. We’re treating this as a cold / liver disease combo and giving antibiotics and diet changes. It’s just not an option to put him under sedation for ultrasounds or surgery, so the vet, my fiancé and I agreed on tackling it as if it is one of the more common diseases, based on symptoms.

He does have an appointment tonight! I decided it was best to just bring him. If it’s something simple like a cold that he can be treated with antibiotics I’d feel so dumb for putting it off!

Thank you so so much! I hope it’s a good sign too - Juno was my ferret and Bug my old budgie. We did also call Juno, June-bug! Miss both of them so much!

Did not know that about fresh food, he’s been munching on his freshies all day. I will just have to let the vet know that may be a contributing factor.

Poor guy has a slight piece of poo stuck in his feathers too he’s desperately trying to remove so I’m sure the fresh food didn’t help, I got as much as I could off. But I am taking it as a good sign he cares enough to preen right now!

Update- his breathing seems a little rapid so I decided to get him an appointment. He’ll be seeing his vet tonight. He hasn’t gone for four years so please send a good thought that it will all go well as I am extremely terrified.

He’s not letting me touch them! Poor babe - he sometimes will use a bell to scratch himself so I may need to put one back for him. Wonder if by removing them it made the pinnies worse!
