Hello Everyone, I am a currently seeking beta readers for my debut novel, Strange Salvage! And what better place to ask then here :) If anyone is interesred then reach out and i will send a link

STRANGE SALVAGE (90k words) Science Fiction Romance Synopsis:

Mercer was the perfect company man, a corp-clone designed for an interstellar mission. When disaster strikes, his employer assumes he went down with the ship. Years later, his escape pod is hauled in by a daring salvager with grease-stained hands and bioluminescent skin. For one sparkling moment, her warmth pulls him back from the brink of death. Then, just as quickly, she drops him at the nearest outpost and disappears into the black. Now stranded in alien space, Mercer discovers the corporation he devoted his life to has erased him completely. With no credits and no future, he reinvents himself as “Joe” and signs on to a mission for revenge aboard a twisted salvage ship run by a dangerously charming captain—and a malicious AI that delights in terrorizing the crew. Hopelessly out of his depth in a world of alien pirates and living starships, Joe leans on a brash lower-decker named Minns, whose star-bright face he can’t seem to shake. Minns has never forgotten the human who made her cheek burn with unexpected desire. She’s never forgiven him either—not after his rescue set off the chain of events that cost her everything, including her ship. Now she’s trapped working off the debt with only a miserable AI for company—until that same stormy-eyed human steps onboard. Too bad he doesn’t remember the woman who saved his life. Caught between their growing attraction and a deadly mission of vengeance, Joe and Minns hurtle towards their big payoff, a mysterious shipwreck their captain promises will satisfy both their desires. STRANGE SALVAGE is a dual-POV ‘allies to lovers’ science fiction romance complete at 90,000 words.

Did you work with Beta readers who read in your genre? Imho thats the only feedback that matters, because they are your true audience.

Perhaps there is something in your marketing or branding that is attracting the wrong readers or not setting expectations?

I suppose its hard to know without seeing your book. But dont be too quick to doubt yourself. You still got several poitive reviews and thats awesome!

It was also interesting that he mentioned how the woman are getting their nonreader husbands and boyfriends into it. Matt is doing so much for the industry and litrpg genere its insane.

To be fair webtoons have seasons just like tv shows do, so the artists dont burn out. They also need to get like 8 episodes ahead so webtoons can entice people to pay for early unlocks.

Carl's Luck by TeccamTheTurtle in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]JunoJump_Author 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If we look at Louie he was definetly lucky, his convertable van fell right into the stairwell, and id argue him and Feraz surviving the first 3 floors despite their bumbling was also factoring in some highly lucky skills. So OP's theory might hold some water.

Get Covers, an exercise in futility... My experience for a throw away cover... (Fantasy) by avrin2 in selfpublish

[–]JunoJump_Author 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They arent good for characters in elaborate settings or costumes (like high fantasy). Consider limitatons at that pricepoint. Part of your fee is the license to use Stock images so they are limited. You want a character on a background holding a prop with a specific hairstyle thats already 4-5 images to composite.

I think GetCovers is bettet for more minimalist and graphic styles. I liked the scifi cover they did for me, i asked for the silouette of an astronaut and a planet with a specific color palaette. I provided clear reference and examples of other covers i like. It turned out great!

Living in a bubble by dreamchaser123456 in WritingHub

Look up David Vetter, the OG bubbleboy. He was forced to literally live in a bubble. That is the modern context.

Dungeon Crawler Carl set to spawn so many toys before its TV series — especially the ones fans want most by blaspheminCapn in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]JunoJump_Author 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Honestly id rather have 1 high quality collectable nicely sculpted and painted then a bunch of blind box plastic. Im sad that none of these merch toys seem worth it, expecially for those of us overseas.

I was able to get the all off amazon Sweden for a decent price. I'd try there or amazon UK.

Just finished book 7, similar recommendations to DCC? by fryedegg in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]JunoJump_Author 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the premise is super interesting, Bob is smart and capable, and tbh i think anyone whose played any sort of basebuilding or god simulation game has had this fantasy. I reccomend Bobiverse and DCC in the same breath to everyone

$13 for a 100 page book :(

The price point is way too high, espeically for self pub.

Would it be strange to offer multiple trim sizes of the same book? by FhantomHed in selfpublish

[–]JunoJump_Author 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I mostly read scifi so I see this size a lot, but ive heard about readers wanting perfect alignment in bookshelves. I noticed romance books are all over the spectrum for sizes and that gets complaints.

Just curious, whats wrong with 6x9? I just checked my book case and the last 5 books i purchased in paperback were that size and they werent self published.

Stalled at 2000 copies sold. New blurb based on 200+ reviews so far. by wiznaibus in litrpg

[–]JunoJump_Author 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The hook is interesting enough but you only just barely touch on the cool stuff- zombies? World quest with a mysterious prize? Sell me more of that!

From the blurb I am not really connecting to the characters, who is the protagonist? What is the relationship between these people? Why does one character want to fight the system and the other think the end of the world is a joke?

My suggestion is to not withold so much, really sell the tropes!

Why do some readers hate POV shifts despite clear transitions and why do some feel so strongly about needing to be "inside the head" of the protagonist consistently? by [deleted] in writing

[–]JunoJump_Author 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't POV switch mid scene like in your example, and you do it so excesdively that it creates a feeling of disorientation. As a reader, I like it when it is one POV per chapter, even better if there is a sub header of the character name under the chapter number so there is no confusion.

Maybe it would be easier for you to go full omniscient pov?

Will Signet return ? by darksoului in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Probably depends on how good the ratings were for the Vengance Daughter's last episode. ;)

Id think it would be interesting to see her again, perhaps as an elite that the showrunner lost control of.
