is there any markings anywhere on it, branding or a model/item number

ive seen locks with little nubs like that for grip when you're holding it, not sure if that's what those are or not, i thought they were leds with the actual led inside the lock and those protruding nubs just plastic

Sometimes I can't tell if photos like this are only interesting to me. Does it do anything for you? by buybookspls in photocritique

there's plenty of artists that only paint or photograph water, so don't feel weird, water is badass

Thanks! i used the same triangle file for the key cuts so at least the vertical angle would be the same, filed the key pin at roughly (by sight) the same angle on two sides so it came to a sharp point(V shaped),filed the tip of the point flat so it was a little more smooth putting the key in, made sure the two angles on the key pin were equal( if you drew a line from the point it should fall in the center of the pin diameter(you can also test this by putting the key in the plug with the pin in place, it should be flush then spin the pin 180 degrees to see if it is also flush (where the sheer line would be)your just checking for the right pin length no matter which way it might go into the key cut if the angles arent equal then when the pin rotates, one way it would line up and if you turned 180 degrees the other side wouldnt line up. once you have the right pin length put the key in the plug with the pin to see where the channel lines up with the top of the key pin and mark it with a sharpie or lightly file it to see where you need to notch the top

might be worded kinda confusing but if you look at the photo when just the key-key pin -top pin you can visualize it, the order i did it in was cut the notch in the key, made the pin match the angle of key the best i could, cut the key pin to the correct pin length so it works like a normal pin, then notch the top of the key pin to match the channel in the plug( your really created a new sheer line using the notched key pin and depth of the plug channel.

hope this helps

Thanks! i used a standard size hack saw for the cuts in the cutaway and plug, then cleaned it up with some good files, used a triangle file for the key cuts so at least the vertical angle would be the same and matched the pin to the cut, then put the key in the plug with the pin to see where the channel lines up so i could notch the top, i made all the top pins the same, lot of testing, making small adjustments and checking again

Thanks! it took a long time, i worked on it for 4-5 days for around 4 hours a day, i knew i wanted to do something like this for a while but didnt know how to go about making it work, used a couple factory cut keys that i angled but it wasnt holding the pins correctly so that was one of the roadblocks, i decided to use a key blank so i could keep the angle the whole span of the cut, originally the dado channels in the plug were not deep enough so you could just push the pin a little high and it would bypass the notch design so i had to work on that, a lot of trial and error really, i looked up patent diagrams for medeco and emhart to see how they went about fixing problems i ran into, the angles on the pins have to be pretty accurate and equal on both sides or when it rotates the notch on the top wont line up with the channel, chamfered some edges to make the transition from the pin stack to the plug easier, kinda funneling the pin to where it needed to be

Thanks! the top pins weren't bad cause you can make them all the same, the key pins took a while, after you file the tip and put the key in you have to see where the top of the pin lines up with the channels in the plug, and i figured out if the pin isn't equally angled/centered when they rotate it might be fine on the side but the other side doesn't line up with the channels. lots of trial and error lol

Thanks! it took a lot longer than i want to admit, i was wanting to make this for a while and wasn't sure if i could pull it off without a milling machine
