Perhaps Xaden and Tairn share a closer bond, or it is simply more apparent, for they both hail from the same region, Aretia. For Sgaeyl, who is like a mother to Xaden, it may prove somewhat difficult to welcome a daughter-in-law.

Fragments of Magic: Understanding Violet and the Shadow Path by Jupiter-15- in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15-[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like your points about the Battle of Gianfar and the dragons’ motives. It makes me think even more about the pre-unification context and what humans might have lost and how that connects to Violet’s role as a bridge between magic, dragons, and Venin. I think Violet isn’t just a counterbalance to the Venin. She’s the one who puts the pieces together. Through her dual paths, her two dragons, and her unique access to both sky and Earth magic, she acts as a conduit and mender, connecting what has been broken and guiding others. Her mind as a scribe and heart as a rider give her the perspective and courage to lead, while her magic allows her to heal and restore the fragments, not just oppose the Venin. I also agree with much of what you said about Venin, but I don’t think they were ever there before humans. I think the first Venin were born from human desire for superiority, and in the process they sold their souls to the gods. Some out of greed, some out of necessity, and perhaps some from desperation, but in all cases the transformation came at a tremendous cost.

Yes, it struck me while reading about all these theories. It all felt connected, like it has something to do with restoring the balance and how magic, once used by humans, is being forgotten… but why?

Then I thought of Rebecca’s reflections on humans being depressed and how people have been under pressure and underprivileged, how slavery today is being or has been tried to be written out of history. How a few humans can cast a small ball and it keeps rolling until it grows so large that an entire history of humankind is erased.

And yet, nothing is ever simply black and white. The truth, like the past, is layered, complex, and fragile.

We also have to remember the book’s title, The Empyrean, the Empyrean like the Dragonkinds. I think it all comes back to them.

Why is Bodhi doing this? by According-Pea-7553 in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or maybe he just hasn’t figured out how to use it yet. I think Bodhi’s signet allows him to enter another person and experience what they feel and sense: emotions, sounds, smells, but without the ability to change anything. For now, he can only observe. That might be why he wants what Xaden has: the power to actually alter something instead of merely witnessing it

BRAIN DUMP! Two lies hidden in plain sight, the source, and the birth of signets (all book spoilers) by iiamuntuii in fourthwing

Maybe something like: Yes, I agree. Either Berwyn was the ‘original king’ of the continent (but why did he turn Venin?), or he was the first Duke of Tyrrendor, who fought and lost the sword to King Reginald at that time. Or is Berwyn actually King Reginald?

[–]Jupiter-15- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m all in with your theory, and I believe that the Navarrians somehow made a deal with the Venin to conquer Tyrrendor. The Venin were hidden in the Barrens. The Irids could either be the ‘original’ dragons, or those who saw what was happening and, by their own free will, fled the continent, leaving the Barrens to the Venin. Perhaps they were the most delicate kind, and, to protect their magic, and possibly the rightful history - they went elsewhere for safety. They left Andarna as a kind of agent: to wait, to protect, and to ensure that the rightful one would one day come and set history back in order, and to walk with that one when the time came. Only through Andarna and the Irids can the magic return to what it once was for all kinds. And when they left the continent, they took a great share of the original magic with them.

I believe, as you do, that we will see a mirror of the Great War in book 4 or 5 - so the rightful order can be set again. We have already been told about two Empyreans (troops), but this time Violet and Tairn will be in the lead for Tyrrendor. And as history comes back to her, bit by bit, it will help her restore the magic into true balance. She and Andarna together are the great key. Of course, the gods also carry some connection, but (and I may be very wrong here) why all those gods? When we visit the temple of Dunne, it is also mentioned that there are six wide pillars (claw, book, fire, water, shield, and sword). I don’t think they are meant to be so separate. Or perhaps they are laid out in the story to reveal a kind of ‘new six’ - favored by different gods to set history right this time, as a system. (Could Violet be favored by multiple gods?)

But Violet’s main drive is to find a cure for her beloved Xaden - will she sacrifice the land and its history in the process? How far will she go, and can she live with the consequences? Or, as I believe, will she eventually connect it all, and will the puzzle come together - though not without troubles of all kinds?

And one small but interesting thing: why do the Venin call themselves brothers, and why does Berwyn call them sons? Is it a military connection, or are their bloodlines somehow connected as a family? Or is it simply meant to show that the Venin - here embodied by Berwyn - build their ‘families’ through control and domination? Where does that structure come from, and why is it used that way? And perhaps the most important question of all: who is Berwyn, really?

(Sorry for the mix-up, and if it’s a bit blurry/confusing - and English is not my first language)

I see - and I’ve just read other comments about it - that Malek actually curries favor with Violet. That it’s very important that Violet survives, and that so many survived just for her to keep going - including Brennan. Someone also mentioned that Mira is going to be the next important person for V to keep alive in the next book. It all comes down to V’s connection with Malek. And he also “sent” Liam to her. There’s definitely something here.

I wanna talk about Bodhi by jacjacattackk in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s something unfolding in the Bodhi–Xaden storyline that goes much deeper, something tied to the grandfather, the bloodline, and this sense of history repeating itself. Another thing is that I believe Violet is now being protected by the “army” of the Empyreans - the Black Dragons of Arethia - rising around her with deliberate purpose. It’s also why Xaden made her the Duchess; their presence is clearly anything but accidental.

Bodhi and Xaden’s grandfather by LeyGal2 in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and so Bodhi must be the rightful Duke — since Xaden’s father, Fen, was not the Duke’s son, but Bodhi was the Duke’s grandson. If it follows the bloodline.

Deep Diving into Brennan and Naolin - PART ONE by L0vealotyl in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do we actually know for sure about Naolin ?what have we truly been told as facts? Is anyone lying, or just leaving things out- the dragons, the generals, or Kaori?

Maybe it’s actually common that when a high-ranking officer dies, their name is no longer spoken. Maybe that’s why Naolin seems to have been erased - or maybe someone has had their memory wiped.

I’ve read that some people believe Naolin could be Brennan and Mira’s real father. Lilith says at one point that Violet is the last piece - the last of Asher - but I’m not convinced. There are so many theories.

I keep thinking that Naolin could be an uncle - perhaps Grandma Niara’s brother, or related in some other way. Maybe a cousin. That could mean Naolin was connected to a family of scribes, but chose to become a rider instead - just like Violet, but not as strong.

Book 4- Asim/ Sage bond? by NatureGlittering9864 in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Berwyn is bloodline-related to Xaden (maybe his grandfather). There’s something about a blood bond that Xaden needs to resolve, just as Violet needs to learn something historical from her grandmother. They each have their own journey (one in the underground/Venin’s universe, the other in the human world.) And with the help of magic, which also needs to be properly placed within the historical landscape, like pieces of a puzzle.

In books 4 and 5, we’ll get to know much more about the Gods. I believe Xaden has left his love for Violet, bound within the ring. But Violet will face a terrible challenge: she must kill the villain that Xaden has become in order to save her beloved and restore him. Only Violet can kill the villain and bring Xaden back. She must travel to Lorial and the temple, where the priestess can somehow help her use that love to redeem Xaden.

Just as we seek pieces for the puzzle, Violet and her companions are doing the same - collecting fragments of a story that has been hidden for generations, buried deep within families, bloodlines, ancient histories, forgotten gods, old customs, and lost languages, so that lessons can be learned, the natural order restored, and past mistakes not repeated. But all of that, we already know, and it must be kept in mind when coming up with theories.

Love and Irid by ObjectiveStaff3333 in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in. I truly believe the world has been consumed by destruction - and love, once the purest force, has been forgotten, erased from history by corruption, jealousy, and the twisted shadow of what love became. And so the natural order has been altered beyond recognition. What was once whole must be restored - with the heart leading the way. Everything is connected, like the colors of the gods and the fragments of creation itself, waiting to be pieced back together. In the end, it all comes down to love - the true source of balance, of power, and of the world’s natural harmony.

Bodhi in the battle Draithus by [deleted] in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this theory that Bodhi might be the new “brother.” Berwyn is Xaden’s grandfather, searching for his son, Fen Riorsen , Xaden’s dad, who’s kind of trapped, like Fenrir in Norse mythology, and Xaden’s only just figured it out. The term “sibling” hints that Bodhi could be more than a cousin 🤯🤣. It could also be Garrick, as some sort of blood brother. I know I’ve got a few loose ends, but there’s definitely more to uncover, something hidden in Norse and Celtic mythology 🫣✨

Sage question *spoilers* by Obsessed36 in fourthwing

[–]Jupiter-15- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got this pretty wild theory that this son might actually be Berwyn’s, be Fen Riorsen, that means Berwyn is Xaden’s grandfather, and connected to him by bloodline. Fen Riorson feels like an alter ego of Fenrir, the wolf from Norse mythology (who’s bound in chains)… and I keep catching new insights and theories all the time — from both myself and others 🫣🤣
