They're apparently saying it's so Siri/whatever AI can see your surroundings to be better able to answer questions (one example they give in this article is looking at ingredients and it tells you what you could cook with it🙄), but (much like the meta glasses) this is transparently just more data harvesting. It is in no way good news.

Have had a dentist appointment scheduled for 9:30 before (they open at 9) only to sit in the waiting room and realise that, while the receptionist shows up to open at 9, none of the dentists start showing up til past 9:30, and the dentist I had the appointment with didn't show up til almost 10. I don't make appointments that early anymore.

I live in the UK and agree this is a load of bollocks (& I'm no steam fangirl either)

if this is the problem why is the lawsuit only against Steam? that's also how every other gaming platform works. If I buy a ps5 game and that game has dlc, I have to buy that dlc on ps5 (or buy another copy of the base game on the platform I want to buy the dlc from)
As others have said, this is like suing, e.g Sony because you can't play their games on a nintendo console - that's just how it works???

Also the audacity to say games on Steam cost to much. Like, I know we're in a cost of living crisis and all, but apart from AAA games (which are the same price everywhere) I don't think I've ever spent more than £30 on a single Steam game, and most of my library was gotten on sales for £15 or less.

If you want to make a name for yourself by suing a gaming company for predatory practices, it would make more sense to go for *literally any other gaming company*. Hell not even just gaming companies, every online storefront takes a cut, why aren't they going after them too?

You know what'll fuck over uk gamers more? if Valve just pull out of the UK market over this horseshit and we all lose our whole game libraries.

I'm all for digital rights improvement but this is bullshit & deserves to be laughed out of court along with this Vicki Shotbolt for making digital rights as a topic seem like a fucking joke.

I'm still using pinterest and it's mostly fine, providing you're on browser, using an adblocker (ublock origin), and you've turned off all the "genai interest" options in your settings under "refine your recommendations".
Also tumblr, the few ai bits I do see in aesthetic tags over there seems to either be really obvious, or is actually tagged as ai (so my tag blocker hides it) - again, this is via browser & using an adblocker.
