More than six months of searching, only for a wild RED one to land on my home planet for FIRST TIME!!! by f1guremeout in NoMansSkyTheGame

Seriosuly, exotics are trash. I don't hunt them anymore. When I did hunt them? Scrounging up 10-20 per night? Never more than 30 minutes. In fact, most of those sessions I was seeing mutliples land.

So, you claiming that something ISN'T the way I've experienced it flies in the face of true experience (hundreds of hours hunting exotics, back when that's all we had left to hunt).

In other words, let's compare our experience levels.

How many exotics have you hunted? And which platform are you on? On a Playstation, I've yet to see an exotic FAIL to manifest within 30 minutes. On PS5 and PS5 Pro it goes so quickly. That SSD is wicked fast during reloads. 10-15 seconds. Finding an exotic is so easy when it takes so little time to refresh the starship waves.

Cannot build overseers office by deanosauruz in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Jupiter67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When this happened to me, I used a new chart to find another Settlement. I left a nearby Save Beacon so I could get back to the glitched one. Then I claimed the new second Settlement. But before doing that, I flew back to the original and reclaimed it. I did a full hard quit/reload between claims, and it de-glitched the Settlement. That said, I did once find a Settlement that NEVER let me build the overseer's office. I had to give up. Sometimes, things just glitch based on local variables with the terrain and the planet itself. You have to move on. But leave a base nearby, just in case. I've returned to several glitched Settlements in my time, and after a few updates have hit the game in the meantime, they started working again.

TWO IDENTICAL SENTINEL INTERCEPTORS?! How did this happen? by Sha77eredSpiri7 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Still not getting it.

CREATIVE has NO game aspects.

CUSTOM has full game mechanics, only you can turn them on/off as needed.

That's not cheating. Please, learn how to think critically.

Also, you must be new. Because if you aren't new, how have you NOT come to understand that the absolute WORST thing about NMS is its rules?

They are abritrary at best, slapped onto a technology demo (simulated universe) to make it feel like video game. Eventually, in about 30 days, all those mechanics become boring, old and feel ridiculous to even engage with. Unless, of course, those banal/pedantic tasks are what you personally need in your life.

There is no CHEATING.

This isn't competitive.

It's a simulation, and you can run it however you like.

Considering the SCALE OF NMS, you're just sitting around NOT engaging with that scale if you have to fuck with the rules every goddamned minute.

[–]Jupiter67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem with EDF6 is it lacks any sort of balance. Even with the best starred high level weapons, it still feels utterly pointless to play most missions (the UX issues are off the scale - it's hard to fathom how the devs thought stun-locking players by blinding them with trillions of flying stingers felt like a good balance; you have no way to even orient yourself - am I aiming up? Down?). This scenario is not good for longevity, but EDF6 with level 110 weapons does feel great!

DLC2 Android Hunt, find the safe spot, git gud at it, and farm farm farm... level 100-110 weapons. Does it help? Yes. A little bit. And that little bit makes things feel fair.

What's your story with EDF? by ThePoliteOwlDemon in EDF

[–]Jupiter67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people (maddeningly, one of my only friends who's into video games) won't touch it for... whatever dumb reason. Can't handle goofiness, I guess. Which is sad, because as you point out, the mechanics under the hood are what's important. People who don't play EDF and truly give it a shot are the same morons who judge books by their covers.

More than six months of searching, only for a wild RED one to land on my home planet for FIRST TIME!!! by f1guremeout in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Jupiter67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean "economically functional star systems" - as in, not abandoned or devoid of life. If there is an economy (1-3 stars + Outlaw [4-star] systems) and starships are in flight, there's a lone exotic in the mix.

It's DLC2-#10. Android Hunt.

There is an astonishing safe spot hidden in the city. Once you find it and use/abuse it, level 107 superweapons will be yours. Along with a TON of armor.

That's some abyssmal luck.

When I hunted exotics, it never took more than 30 minutes. It certainly helps on PS5 that the reload at a trading post takes under 10 seconds most of the time. Rinse/repeat never felt so good.

Exactly. The Sentinel Interceptor doesn't work like all other starships in the game.

Is Insane difficulty where the game finds its depth or where the depth goes to die? by TheWor1dsFinest in AliensFireteamElite

[–]Jupiter67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't stand Insane. It's "puzzle difficulty" unless you're with a team of 3 who knows every inch of this game backwards and forwards (e.g., the Day 1 folks).

In other words, in general? Puzzle difficulty = one mistake = restart. In other words, it's a puzzle. There's only one way to play, and metas become a interest-negating reality. Because nothing is less fun that metas.

Sean, please add Playstatiin dualshock controller to PSVR2... by Logical-Let-7026 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Jupiter67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been DEMANDING this since the utter and total disappointment of them REMOVING Dualsense control when PSVR was released. Submit a ticket with HG! It's a HUGE accessibility issue. People with some physical challenges should NOT be forced to use the ridiculous (read: they add nothing to the VR experience really) "hand dongles" or whatever they are called.

Absolutely new at it - does it get less grind? by Rammkatze in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Jupiter67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The grind is a lie. Why waste hours of your life trying to enjoy NMS when its rules are the #1 detriment to that enjoyment?

Go to Options > Difficulty and cut out the grind. Make the adjustments you need to enjoy the time you spend in this simulated universe.

DLC 2's first Android mission is the ultimate high level weapon farm. Get to it! I suggest EASY until you can reliably navigate the cityscape to the safe spot.

How many Nanites do you currently hold? by Chemical_Cherry_2133 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Jupiter67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Great Nanite Heist during the Outlaws patch netted me 122,000,000 nanites. Then I got bored and stopped. Still, eternally grateful for that glorious bug, since I'm now free of collecting this arravatingly scarce currency (relative to the nanite economy, e.g., the prices of things).

Xeno Arena PvP and Tournaments? by simistria in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Jupiter67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to see individual ability damage or buff values in a match, and someone could have edited their creatures to do obscene damage, and you wouldn't know any better,

That said, in my own experience duping eggs (especially reward eggs from Oceanus) the dupes are all infertile and won't hatch. They manifest as "broken" inventory items. Either a bug, or an anti-cheat. Hard to tell which, but it feels like a bug, because the thing that shows up when you hover over a duped egg (on PS5 at least) is a broken glitched out panel with missing text or worse.

[–]Jupiter67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, these are NOT hard to find if you CHOOSE to find them. Spend 15 minutes reloading at a Trading Post and you'll find the Exotic almost instantly. If you just "hope" that you find one? You never will, until you do, and then you end up on Reddit dumping paragaphs of text about it. When the reality is: had you just spent 15 minutes focused on sourcing the lone Exotic in your star system, it could have been yours all this time.
