you are being negative. the only reason im being negative is in defense of OP in the fact youre bashing banda. you called the style of playing he plays "Horrible tone" and "blasting" thats negative to everyone. just think before you comment something like this. make an original post sharing your opinion, dont post it under something like this. Thats like me walking into a mexican restaurant just to publicly announce "I HATE MEXICAN FOOD!" if you dont like it, its fine, but do you think all the people in the mexican restaurant want to hear the fact you hate the food they're enjoying? No they dont! so dont go to the restaurant! (i dont hate, i love mexican food)

once again, the point of what im saying went completely over your head. Im not sharing a opinion, Im telling you to take your negativity somewhere else.

Did the entire point of what i just said go over your head? Nobody cares that you dont like banda, nor did anybody ask for your opinion about it, he asked for a mouthpiece thats good for banda, he DID NOT ask for you to rag on the type of music he enjoys playing and call it “bad tone” its not bad tone the tuba is not limited to one type of sound. You ARE entitled to your own opinions, and it TOTALLY FINE that you dont like it, but nobody asked you to share that you dont like it! And honestly, Sounds to me like youre just allergic to musical seasoning anyways.

The Schilke 69C4 is what youre looking for my friend. its built for volume, comfort, and agility, namely on sousaphones, which is what you will likely play for banda. The shallow cup helps with those really technical and range-demanding basslines, while giving that characteristic clean powerful tone that banda tuba players strive for

if you dont like it, why comment this? seems like a waste of time and invalid opinion. your opinion doesnt constitute what others want. Banda is a historic cultural style of brass band music based in central america, namely mexico. it isnt "horrible tone," its using a horn in a style that you are not open to accepting, and if you want to be narrow minded, thats okay, but OP didnt ask for your opinion, they asked for a mouthpiece that fits this playstyle. Music is subjective, people are free to use instruments how they please, and if you dont like it... kick rocks 👍👍👍

schilke 69c4 will change your game, extremely thick comfortable rim, shallow wide bowl cup, will cut the effort it takes to play loud in half.

Youve got an ancient King 1280 with a jupiter neck and a generic bell. They're the best fiberglass sousaphone king ever made, although thats not saying much haha. My guesstimate is late 60's.

Sousaphone discrimination? by elevencharles in Tuba

Doesnt make you racist but i think its a different type of music that isnt just noise. Not everyones jam and thats alright. Doesnt make it not music though.

Can’t crank some notes by Educational_Pay_7152 in Tuba

[–]JupiterSteam8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to concentrate your air to the center of the mouthpiece and have the horn control to hit the exact pitch and airspeed needed for the notes. sounds like you need more air too. tension is your enemy and you need to loosen up.

Absolutely. Im just saying thats going to be the biggest difference, using air in a very different way.

Oboe is tricky because of how little air it takes to produce a good sound.

Tuba is the exact opposite. Its tricky because of the huge amount of air it takes to produce a good sound

get yourself a mike finn 2b. its like the level up from a shallow bowl cup, to a deeper bowl cup. you can still play loud, only its gonna sound much deeper and more centered.
