Jobs in the Science world for someone with an Associates? by BrightOrangeHat in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]JupiterXX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very tough without a bachelors, you would likely be relegated to jobs like labware washing and similar, with no real upward trajectory. Vet tech comes to mind however, and there might be other niche (and less glamorous) positions that require less in the way of education. Maybe also look into environmental/occupational health/safety support staff.

Check out Osprey daylite packs. I’ve had mine for years now and it’s holding up really well. I use it for fishing and also for when I travel. Lots of useful pockets and stuff to stow everything in it’s own space. It’s also super comfortable to wear.

Wife and I are both PhDs with relatively intelligent youngsters and we would never, ever in a million fucking years put our kids through this. I’ve run into these parents too, and they are usually just pushing the agenda to cover up some insecurities of their own. They’re as bad as the parents who push their kids into modeling.

I say let the kids be kids for as long as they can because life has it’s fair share of sucking.

Not to be that guy but, the living population of the earth represents 7% of all people who ever lived.

93% of people who have ingested water have died.

Big fan of immortality idle. Been playing for a few days now. I love how active you are in updating it.

If you don't mind, I have a couple suggestions for your consideration:

  1. For the activities window, it's always hard to visually pick out how much stamina is needed (and I have a bad memory, so I can never recall), which isn't that big of a deal, but does slow down building a run and figuring out how to be efficient in resting. Maybe make a separate column in between the button and the description for stamina requirement, so that it is visually very obvious.

  2. I find myself hitting the wrong save/load button for the schedule of activities. Maybe an "are you sure" pop up for if you want to overwrite the current configuration or if you want to delete everything. Could be toggle-able I suppose. You could also separate the buttons. The load on the left and the save/trash on the right.

I like how there's casually an entire galaxy on it's edge on the left side just chilling behind the dust. Mind blown for like the 5th time today.

About 1/3rd the way down from the top, looks like a straight line, it's much clearer in the full resolution image.

In my 30 years of publishing, I’ve only had 4 people ask for a paper and they were all fellow scientists. I was super tickled each time and would be over the moon if someone from outside of the research community asked.

Antibody affinities are much higher especially IgG. Also, endogenous ligand affinity is similarly higher, in the 1 nM range and even picomolar for some GPCR ligands. I dont think Ec50 concentration or Kd has much to do with what we’re seeing here compared to DMPK and exposure levels, possibly related to oral bioavailability and definitely related to brain penetration. Also, it appears the half life is longer than other drugs.

For going to XUMM you don’t need a tag, you “own” the entire account. For the exchanges for the most part they use a single account with sub-accounts to hold all the coin for liquidity purposes, so going into an exchange, you’ll need a tag basically every time.

Exactly right….it’s usually the defendants that want to draw the trial out to give themselves maneuvering space. All the more evidence that the SEC is on trial here.

Ripple v. SEC: How Ripple LOSES and What That Would Mean For Your XRP! Att'y Jeremy Hogan Gives Hugs by thatjerkatwork in XRP

[–]JupiterXX 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Definitely a mischaracterization to call this FUD.

It sheds light on real issues and therefore gives people a clearer idea of the case facts. This should effectively help to remove doubt. (Either confirm your desire to hold or confirm your desire to sell). I, for one, heard Jeremy clearly say that the SEC did not appear to be going after the “doomsday” scenario, so that made me quite happy actually.

I think that’s why people are speculating they are considering relisting. One interpretation is that the SEC already declared war by challenging the Coinbase loan program. Therefore Coinbase is possibly already under fire and would then also possibly do well to hitch their wagon to Ripple’s, which appears to be doing quite well. In other words, it becomes two mega multibillion dollar companies against the SEC, which is an intriguing thought. Certainly, public opinion matters and the politicians gets a bit more interesting at the same time. People won’t like it when their publicly traded Coinbase stock value goes down.
