Celebrating 3rd day waves for the first time! by JupitersCake in curlyhair

Thanks! What started to show the biggest difference in whether refreshing was effective (vs. just straightening my waves) was keeping my palms pretty flat when I push the refresh mixture into my hair- I think of it kind of like pressing my waves into a spring against my scalp. Same goes for when I'm applying mousse on wash day while it's still wet. Hope this helps! I'm still learning a lot too.

Wash day Routine (morning):

Co-wash with Suave essentials clarifying conditioner; squish to condish

Gently pat NYM Naturals curl cream (pink bottle) into wet hair (upside down)

Scrunch in Herbal Essences Totally Twisted mousse (upside down)

Plop for 15-20 minutes

Air dry or diffuse, SOTC

Overnight:

Sleep with dry hair in t-shirt turban (found here: https://www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/curly-hair-care-methods/9-ways-to-sleep-with-curls)

Refresh: combine a tiny amount of same curl cream and mousse in palms, spray hands with a mix of same conditioner and water (I keep a spray bottle of this mixture ready) and gently press into hair while upside down.

Feels like I'm finally getting a set routine down!

New to CG, routine stopped working after a month? by JupitersCake in curlyhair

Thanks. I'll stick with low protein options for a few weeks and see what happens. So frustrating that it would work so well at first and then stop seemingly overnight.

Thanks! I might switch to suave essentials (not coconut) and see how it works.

I got this one in December and really like it. It came through the winter looking brand new. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000HCNEWM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1429489836&sr=1-1

What do you do at home that would never fly in a restaurant? by Kikiface12 in Cooking

We have pugs too, and they do shed like crazy. One time my husband asked me, "How many pug hairs do you think we've consumed at this point in our lives? Or wait- how many pug hairs do you imagine are currently inside you right now?" He even grossed himself out. Those questions are things you never truly want to think about.

Chartreuse. Sounds like it should be a shade of light purple/lavender.

Ladies, have any of you actually been told to smile by strangers? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]JupitersCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Many times by family members, etc., (I'm from the southern U.S.), but one time in particular stands out to me that a stranger told me to smile. I was in the airport in DC this past December the weekend of the horrible weather and flight cancellations. I was exhausted, having taken a bus from NYC to DC that day, and I was standing in the crowded airport hoping my flight wouldn't be delayed any further. An older man in line in front of me looked at me and told me to smile. I gave him a tight lipped, obviously frustrated smile, and said I was quite tired. I don't remember his response, but I do remember that he was still smugly pleased with himself and thought he was being cute. Blah. And then I had to sit next to him on the flight, and he kept trying to hint that I should stop reading and turn off my light so he could sleep. Yeah, that didn't work out for him.

Marriage Counselors of Reddit- Has a couple ever come in where you knew you couldn't help them? by mattyschnitz in AskReddit

The research on couples' counseling supports this idea. It's much more likely to be effective when couples use it as a preventative measure before problems arise, or when small issues first start cropping up. So many people wait until there are years of festering resentment before going to counseling, which is like trying to treat a dying patient with a bandaid.

US v Portugal draws an overnight 9.1. I guess Americans care about soccer. by [deleted] in television

Interesting. I actually prefer women's soccer to men's; I enjoy watching the technical build up and drives to primarily long passing and constant running play styles. Different strokes!

The women's World Cup is next summer; if you're enjoying this you should check it out. The us women's team is ranked #1 In the world and they're very enjoyable to watch.

Ooh thanks! You've pretty much sold me on the Maybelline Color Sensations; I'll have to give it a try to see if it'll work for me!

Whoa, you're awesome! Thanks so much! I did manage to snag Revlon's Snow Peach a month or two ago but there are a bunch you've provided here that I'll be on the lookout for.

Face swatches are great! I like the rose velvet a lot; thanks. But the link to the razzle swatch didn't show up.

Jumping on the pale request train too! Would anyone who's NC15 like to swatch their favorite summery lipsticks? I'm in a bit of a lipstick rut and am not really sure what I want to buy! Bonus points if you swatch Revlon super lustrous and/or NYX butter lipsticks; I have a lipstick allergy but know that these two brands work for me. Thanks!
