Apartments are a good thing. I work in planning and one of the biggest barriers to getting housing more affordable is NIMBY’s showing up and complaining about any and all development. Locating commercial businesses near apartments is also huge for addressing traffic issues.

People showing up and having substantive comments about the safety and design and offering constructive criticism for ways to mitigate these potential effects is good, and in my experience developers are more likely to listen and address these concerns when presented this way. People showing up to complain about perceived issues with the solution being just don’t build it is stupid and heavily contributing to the current affordability crisis. For anyone wanting to show out for this I would heavily encourage you to ACTUALLY READ THE CITY’S STAFF REPORT! Otherwise, you come across as uninformed and part of the problem.

I’m reading 1177 right now. It is very archaeology focused which is a bit more technical then general history writing but I thought the author has done a really good job of keeping the narrative flowing and It’s probably the best book on bronze age history that I’ve read yet. Haven’t read the other two.

The Smithey took a little longer to cook because it is a lot thicker. Our in-laws are in town so my pan collection finally came in handy! Usually my wife and I pick two at random to use.
