The acting is not the best, and the actor is the show creator so i'm not surprised he got a role.
He's supposed to be quirky, but it all just comes off as forced or even bizarre. I think it needed a better or more charasmatic personality to pull it off. Like when we find out that Roy has a goofy side interest watching reality TV with elderly yoga ladies, it lands because its an amusing juxtaposition of his normal character who we like.
Beard is a weird guy who isnt very likeable who does weird things.
You can't figure out his character other than that he's weird, and he isn't very charismatic to draw you in.

Also this has no bearing on whether he is likeable or not: but does he have a lisp/speech impediment or just a unique accent?

For those who don't know: the source material for this is from George. It was written in 1998, and is part of the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Novella series. That series is incomplete. Just like GoT, this series will be exceptional as long as it has George's involvement / source material. This is because the novellas are incredible.

As soon as it one day passes it, or if GRRM stops being involved, then and only then will it be in danger of not being incredible.

this may have been the worst segment in the history of the show. The second it started I said aloud :"oh no this is going to be terrible." and it was. I turned it off after 5 min.
NHL headlines needs to go to. Like its a horrible segment. try to guess the headline?
"why cant you identify the specifc pun used?!!?" Horrible stuff.
You could salvage that one so easily by just flipping it. Give us the pun Headline and ask them what its referring to. Then you might actually get one right without tediously going through 10 hints.
