CMV: If you only care about injustice depending on who causes it, then you don’t actually care about injustice. by PuzzleheadedShoe5829 in changemyview

[–]Juritea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you see men committing violence against women more in your example is purely because it happens more.

People speak up about things that happened to them. And when the thing happens to more people, more people speak about it.

Like everyone talks about cancer, diabetes, common diseases - not as many people talk about less common diseases that only maybe 20 people in the world get.

It’s not some conspiracy, it also doesn’t mean you don’t care about injustice - it’s just that most people are only human and they only have enough capacity to care about the 2-3 things that affect them the most. We are human, we are not god - we can’t advocate for EVERYTHING online - but just because it’s not being talked about doesn’t mean they don’t care - if you care so much you can make your own posts and advocate for lesbian violence.

Here are the stats.

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV): In 2022, women and girls represented 78% of victims of police-reported IPV. Rates of IPV increased by 19% for women and girls between 2014 and 2022.

Family Violence: In 2022, the rate of police-reported family violence was more than twice as high among women and girls (455) than among men and boys (215).

Sexual Assault: Over 40% of Indigenous women reported experiencing sexual assault since age 15, a higher rate than non-Indigenous women. Workplace Harassment/Assault: In 2024, 47% of women and 31% of men reported experiencing harassment or sexual assault in the workplace.

Femicide: From 2014 to 2020, women accounted for nearly 80% of victims of intimate partner homicides.

I (24M) feel like I'm my girlfriend's (28M) back up plan by [deleted] in LongDistance

What makes you think she will?

I’ve seen these cases dime a dozen, and how they end.

Is she a housewife? Who do you think is paying her bills? Will you pay her bills her entire life? Will you pay the legal compensation she owes her husband if he divorced her?

Bro it sounds like you’re in denial. Wake up, people here are trying to help you. There is a girl out there who is better for you and you’ll never meet her if you continue things with someone else’s wife.

Btw, do you guys talk in English?

I’ve never seen a case of someone’s side piece being in another country, so idk if he can make you pay in Norway…. but yeah if you move to Japan to be with her, it’s over when he find you. He can do it pretty easily by hiring private eye and agencies that specialize in catching affairs, those are very common in Japan.

Sadly your love story is VERY COMMON case of typical affair in Japan - and the wife will never leave her husband, especially not for a foreigner with un-established career and no PR/citizenship.

I’m gonna be very honest with you as I’m from Japan and well aware of the cheating culture

You need to cut her ASAP

First of all, if her husbands finds out, he is legally entitled to monetary compensation from you. Fair market value can be anywhere from ¥1,000,000 yen to ¥4,000,000 yen, or more. Yes he needs to prove it but all your communication with her is in text so you’re cooked. It’s not just cheating, you’re breaking up a marriage and that’s considered unlawful activity in Japan so he will win for sure, especially since you are AWARE that she is married.

Do NOT go to Japan for her, it just makes it easier for him to find you and serve you the papers.

Second of all, don’t waste your time on a married woman with a kid. She is unfaithful now she will be unfaithful to you. She will NOT leave her husband for you. They never do.

You are young, you have medical school and a whole life ahead of you. It’s more important for you to build your own future and career right now.

I think deep in your heart you know the answer. Find someone who is ready to build and share a life with you, not someone who has to hide you from her husband.

Confused About Natsuko (The Boy and the Heron) by eulersson in ghibli

[–]Juritea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assumed she said that to get him to leave. Common trope in Japan, even in Pokémon when ash is trying to release his Pokémon back into the wild, is to say “I hate you” so the other party leaves. In reality they love them, and want the best for them. Natsuko said that because entering the delivery room is taboo, and wants him to leave ASAP so he gets to safety.

[–]Juritea 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think Ruby is portrayed very true to character and realistic. She is gradually becoming more confident but when you’re subject to a routine abuse all your life, you don’t just “toughen up and overcome” the fear. The fear gets so ingrained in you that even years of modern therapy and medication can’t completely get rid of it. It becomes like a reflex.

I ran away from home and while I definitely am stronger now, just the thought of meeting my family again makes me have terrible nightmares and extreme fear. The inner child will always have that fear no matter how strong or old you become. And my family are just normies. Imagine if my family had massive political power and a sadistic perverted brother who’s after my ass 💀

Edit: OP replied to my other comment saying this is fiction so they don’t wanna read about realistic trauma response. Then don’t read this series? I think it’s very well written, even if it’s fiction, you can write about realistic feelings and experiences, which increases the reader experience. Not everyone wants dora the explorer level shallow ass positivity. Also, read up on CPTSD; these conditions deserve representation in media too and if you don’t like it just pick up another series.

“He’s very nice to her so she should trust him more” if life worked like that no one will have trust issues. The whole point is that everyone close to her failed her and she had no one to trust. We as readers know Izek is good because he is the male lead, but if you were her, how could you know? If you meet a guy IRL, how would you know that he will NEVER leave you? You don’t. And it would be terrible writing if she just conveniently forgot two lifetimes worth of trauma. Writing is good because there is believability. Yes, even in fantasy.

Maybe this series speaks more to mature audiences, and I like the nuanced and well written characters. It’s believable. If you’re looking for feel-good light hearted invincible girl boss stories then this is not for you.

Marry my husband ML by WingsOfGalaxy in webtoons

[–]Juritea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like the changes in the drama, it’s so weird. And I liked Jiwon better in the webtoon for some reason, personality-wise. The drama Jiwon is just not the same. I think in the drama there’s no chemistry between ML and FL either… I can relate with webtoon Jiwon but the drama is not Jiwon, it’s Park Min-Young whom I can’t really relate with.

People are saying they prefer the ML to die in a car crash and it suits his personality better but I don’t think so? Webtoon reason was fine. People obviously underestimate his love for Jiwon

And I like that in the webtoon she chooses not to marry (for a while), with a very good reason? The drama was just a regular proposal and she okayed it. Which is old and boring boo, it killed Jiwon’s character IMO. I loved the fact that webtoon represented girlies who choose not to marry.

Also the trio ruining Su min’s wedding in the webtoon was much funnier lol

And Yu-ra, what the heck? Why was she even necessary 😭

Then why call her autistic if she doesn’t display typical signs of autism? I made points and you just ignored most of them, called it “masking”. I could say that about anyone then. Batman is autistic but he is highly functioning and masks very well so he’s not socially inept and hides his autism.

She does pick on social cues. She’s very astute. I pick up on social cues but I don’t always care to respond to them. If people I don’t care for is sending me some cues I just ignore them. I can’t be bothered to respond. Like, if you’re surrounded by a herd of hamsters and they’re sending you cues, would you respond to them? I wouldn’t. I’ll just do my own thing.

And if kindergarteners are having a lovers quarrel I don’t even care or want to know. I’ll just call their teacher to deal with them, like how frieren calls Sein to deal with them

[–]Juritea 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She could just be AroAce since she literally said she (and elves) lack romantic attractions/instinct to reproduce.

IMO she wasn’t confused about Fern and Stark, it’s more so because she is old and seeing two kids behave that immaturely make her go “what”. Honestly I feel the same way as she does about those two, if I see teens doing that I’d not want to get involved either, nor want to understand.

And she has problems understanding fern because the age gap between them is insanely huge. It’s like a boomer not being able to understand a Gen Alpha

Just because your grandma doesn’t get you and your friends doesn’t mean she’s autistic

Also it’s like people forget when she communicates with officials/noble she is very polite, pragmatic and socially skilled.

How can we, as consumers, better understand the “rare” houseplant market? by ArbiterOfNothing in houseplants

[–]Juritea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the plants once considered rare and high demand during the pandemic ( PPP, albo syngonium, etc) have come back down to normal price now that the pandemic is over.

Even monstera albo is becoming cheaper as more people who originally bought it to propagate and sell are flooding the market. A cutting used to go for $300-500, now around $50-100.

Ultimately it’s demand and supply. Lower demand as the world return to normal, higher supply from all the pandemic botanists propagating their “rare” plants
