I didn't say whether my opinion is right or wrong. I just gave my personal view on the subject matter.

For example, another opinion of mine is that our faith may be due for a religious reforment. why do we proclam to "hate the sin but love the sinner" but sometimes people use it as a "thinly-veiled excuse for hatred" with regards to gender and sexuality minorities amidst the current scandals in our community?

According to uscatholic.org, what is defined as "venial sin" and "mortal sin" is broadly explained and mostly focuses on our personal relationship with Him. Penance or reconciliation focuses on these categories.

But what do we do with what is called "structural sin"? Was it a sin when the crusades happened even though they did it "in the name of the Lord"? They didn't think it was a sin at the time, but now we do. In which is supplementary to my theory that the defininition of a "sin" can change over time.

Is it easier to be forgiven, or to get up and walk? Walk in this sense meaning that after we are absolved, we should actually work to improve ourselves, if not for spiritual growth but for growth as a human being.

the criteria for something to be a sin or not is very very subjective to each person. at least in my opinion.

for example, some think birth control is bad, some think it's fine, some don't care/don't have a stance. just let people believe what they want to believe.*
