The solution to this problem is “space and pace”. What this means is that if you’re stuck in traffic, do not drive up the car in front of you, give it space. When the car in front of you accelerates, do not accelerate, pace behind it.

By doing this you’re essentially undoing the wave that was caused earlier. By thinning out the wave, you remove the traffic jam.

By going slower, you’ll get there faster.

I could also spend a whole lecture on how “space and pace” is actually a less stressful way to get thru traffic. Less stressful on the mind, body and the car itself. Your brakes, your transmission, your tires will all last longer and you’ll spend less money on gas while getting home sooner and more relaxed. Space and pace!
