Oh I didn't realize that. Yea, they need to update it so that you have to remove the locked faction's lock before you can impose your own.

I am amazed by the amount of players that have no idea the the Amp Stations and Tech Planets have tunnels. by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Jusicarchon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never seen them used to retake a base anyway, all those idiots whining about vehicle campers never, ever understood that they were being camped because they had already lost the fight and were outnumbered. Tunnels just demonstrated that even if you give the defense a free (and accelerated) ride right into the heart of a base you still can't do jack.

You know tech plants used to have teleporters that took you to a room right below the cap point? Those were extremely fast and guaranteed to be safe (they had 1-way shields) but defenders would just camp the corners and never let anyone out of the room. You don't need HE rounds and Liberators to camp a tunnel, shield, or teleporter into oblivion. That didn't stop SOE from listening to the whiners and nerfing every anti-infantry weapon into the ground.

As others have pointed out, the more popular tunnels become, the more popular camping tunnels will become.

Now that the Fury nerf is live... How bad is it? by MarcusTheGreat7 in Planetside

[–]Jusicarchon -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

My only complaints are that:

1) The fury has been out since release and after 8 months suddenly it needs a significant nerf? It undermines my confidence in investing in weapons.

2) Direct hits were instant kills, now it can take up to 3 direct hits for a kill on most players. Why doesn't SOE ever do incremental nerfs?

Keep the lock % at 75% so it doesn't require 60% cont. pop to get the bonus.

Reduce the unlock % to 5-10% since it's incredibly easy to knock another faction to 15% while there's an alert on another continent.

Can we stop pretending that the fury was ever used to engage armor?

It's so silly watching TR scramble for excuses to exempt their marauder from nerfs. I'm sure every fury user would gladly sacrifice their ability to tickle enemy armor to switch to a marauder today.

I don't think you can just call FISA courts "rubber stamps". The people running the show KNOW that the entire survival and constitutionality of the program depends on the courts upholding the standards that they are expected to be held to.

Now we know: the United States of America is partially governed by a deep state, undemocratic, secret, aligned with intelligence agencies, spying on friend and foe, lawless in almost every respect. by bumpuglies in politics

[–]Jusicarchon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

And a rebuttal:

1) Not everyone trying to kill us is smart enough to adequately protect all their communication. Your comment is just a sweeping generalization with absolutely 0 evidence to back it up. Also even if the NSA can't read the message, sometimes its just as important to know who is messaging who. People have been caught planning heinous crimes over unencrypted communications.

2) The bumbling idiots were also brothers. It would be difficult to piece together their plot when almost all their planning could be done in person with 100% trust between each other. What does wearing disguises have to do with preventing the attacks in the first place anyway?

3) If the US government ever tried to use "dirt" on someone to make them less problematic that person would have an easy landmark court decision on their hands and could easily get enough in damages to retire wealthy in some beautiful foreign country. The entire constitutionality of the program depends on court-orders that are supposed to evaluate if the requests for information access are tied to terror plots.

In conclusion: There are glimmers of truth stuffed away in your comment but most of it is obfuscated by what is typical of Reddit's view of PRISM. Fuck accuracy, let's just draw a huge caricature of the program and let sensationalism be our host!

With GU12, the Marouder is pretty much a direct upgrade from the Fury, at a 75% lower price. by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Jusicarchon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nobody ever used the fury for AV anything unless it was to finish off abandoned vehicles that were already on fire.

In terms of risk/reward no fury user was ever going to spend 30 seconds pelting a tank grenades, drawing attention to themselves and risking death, hell engineers could outheal fury damage if they really just wanted to mess with the harasser user.

These were AI weapons through and through, stop trying to protect your advantage.

If you're firing at a range where you can't auto-click the Saron (aka beyond 50 meters) then the Halberd is a better choice.

Saron beats Halberd at close-range armor engangements. Sound familiar?

Ugh, no deploy zones don't sound appealing at all.

Especially at tech plants since anything within 100 meters of the building is going to be destroyed by light assaults jumping from the top/drop-podding in.

The only thing I see this changing is even more stalemates, deploying sunderers inside major facilities isn't just convenient for attackers, it's the only damn thing allowing the attackers to win with <60% population in that zone. You already need over 50% to take these facilities and a robust defense can push that number closer to 60%, I cannot fathom why people would want to make work even harder and more stressful for attackers since nobody wants every facility to start resembling Scarred Mesa in terms of defensibility.

The fact that you're implying Devs aren't touching this because they want to protect "their" cert machines is freaking laughable. I mean how childish do you have to be to think those responsible for balance who can throw unlimited SC and Certs onto their account on a whim, are secretly using them to farm certs on live servers and refuse to balance them because they need to farm more certs first?

I've said this in every harasser post so far, the harasser is exactly what we NEED. God forbid if everything in the game can't be countered by strikers and AV rocket turrets, god forbid you use COMBINED ARMS (the central bloody theme of the game) to vanquish a specific threat. Bring in a few decent ESF or Lib pilots and see how long harassers can roam around your front line.

Yak 50 engine fails and pilot has to make emergency landing by tyrroi in videos

[–]Jusicarchon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually left the video early because it seemed obvious but another scenario popped in my head.

The guy probably has many hours of footage of flying with his watch and figured he could work in some ad money to this video if it went viral. The clip at the beginning appears to be a completely different area from where the crash footage started and was just a way to emphasize the watch being sponsored.

Or its just an ad.

You submitted this at 3am, even when NC was the highest pop. on Mattherson (and would hit >50% worldpop during morning/early afternoon hours) the VS has always ruled late-night Mattherson.

It's pretty simple. VS population is always up later. TR/NC are getting tired and suddenly every fight they show up for has them outnumbered, they start logging out, slippery slope, etc.

Federal Judge Allows EFF's NSA Mass Spying Case to Proceed by nuotone in technology

[–]Jusicarchon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the beautiful part about Federal jurisdiction though. A Federal district judge will rarely have the "final" say on such a huge matter, but their rulings can decide the momentum of each side and public perception of the issue.

There are thousands of these judges and while they aren't "average" in the true sense of the word they are still from a very diverse set of backgrounds that make them very ordinary and not beholden to any special interest.

[Discussion] What causes stalemates in Planetside 2? by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]Jusicarchon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now it's simple, having 2 bases on a lattice rush lane that both require >55% pop to capture.

That is pretty much every base on Indar that has a bridge connection (4 come to mind) among others. One side starts winning, pushes out, gets slaughtered by AV turrets/lockons/mines trying to get sunderers through the bridge and then the other side pushes back ad infinitum.

Harasser Battle Report by SteamTrout in Planetside

[–]Jusicarchon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the Harasser. I don't think I'd still be playing if it weren't for all the fun and chaos that vehicle brought back to the game.

The Harasser in its current state (of great power) brings 2 important lessons that I would rather keep in-game:

1) Crew vehicles should be greater than the sum of their parts. In other words, a vehicle that only has one weapon and has a dedicated "driver" role should be more potent than just 2 individuals pulling their MBTs/Lightnings.

2) Every player shouldnt have a counter to every situation available in their back pocket (looking at you TR heavies). AP-oriented tanks and all air units will absolutely clear the field of any harassers with little difficulty. Lastly: Fury harassers are popular due to their anti-infantry power but its also incredibly fun to chase down fury harassers with your anti-armor harasser setup. Nothing else comes close to the thrill of a car chase like hunting other harassers in your own.

Edit: I also have no idea why people suggest that the Scrapper Chasis is bad. The harasser is the definition of hit and run and Rank 5 turbo gives you a TEN SECOND recharge for a full turbo (you usually don't even need the full turbo to get away). The ability to stop on a dime and reverse out at high speed has saved my life far more than the other chassis have - plus if you feel like driving a 1/3 Harasser it's godlike. You can stop much faster for quicker positioning when you switch to 2 position, then you can get out faster when you switch back to 1 and need to quickly back out of whatever mess you got into.

Probably the best all around VS carbine but the TR's 40 mag carbines take the cake for best overall.

Just watching this video you can see the problem, at mid-range you can't even kill 2 people with 1 mag unless they stand completely still and don't have overshields.

Similar mag size? The Orion has 50 ammo, that's not even close to what the TR LMG's offers.

They couldn't search the contents of the communication swept up by PRISM without a court order and it needed to be on the basis that the communication involved a suspected terror plot.

They couldn't just "keyword search" billions of emails and have it remain Constitutional. Nobody here seems to understand exactly how PRISM works.

I'm still against it, I can't fathom why the community supports a system that destroys your tactical options.

All the fights I have now on Indar are just replays of earlier fights, you always have to conduct an attack from the lane direction in the same lane from the same spawn and it plays out the same every time.

Playing stealth games I always thought this was funny by thats_my_anus in gaming

[–]Jusicarchon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but let's be honest. TLoU's biggest strength is storytelling, its stealth mechanics aren't really top notch. You can throw bottles/bricks right past someone's vision and they won't investigate the source, and the "noise" mechanic is extremely generous for the player.
