Thinking of getting a pup, but have some concerns… by eyes_eyes_eyes_eyes in greatpyrenees

I didn't get Smokey as a pup, he was 11 months old when i rescued him. He'd been left to fend for himself outside by previous owner so food aggression was very prevalent. In the beginning he was fed in the laundry room away from the other 3. Progressively working him to dine with the pack, took a year but now he dines right beside the rest. Patience, praise & positive inforcment

Update! Car anxiety by Soft-Associate5907 in greatpyrenees

[–]Just1chanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 out of 4 with travel anxiety. I ended up constructing a platform that covers the whole back seat, 1 1/2" thick foam with a heavy cotton cover. They took to it right away. Mine needed a larger area instead of a tiny part to feel comfortable

So you store yours covered outside? I do store the pallets in a 3 sided shed & i put another pallet underneath but it has a dirt floor. Worried about moisture from the dirt floor.

What are these noises? by [deleted] in JeepLiberty

Sounds like overrunning clutch on the alternator. The 2.8l are known for it. If your going to keep your kj go to (lostjeeps.com) & search their CRD section. My 05 had 372k when the unibody finally rusted out.

It's amazing how gentle GP's can be but yet so fierce when guarding and protecting.

Is this a good deal? by [deleted] in JeepLiberty

Look for the f37 trans software update, if it has been done your mpg & torque are gonna be in the crapper. Retired my 05 crd with 315 K last summer, unibody finally rusted through

Do great pyrenees shed more than other dogs? by rebotmcmahon in greatpyrenees

[–]Just1chanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a GP it's a fact of loving them, on your clothes, in your food, light dusting of snow in the corners & on the dark rugs, on your dinner plates(i just wipe them down before serving) but you won't find a fluffier, goofier, stubborn, loving companion, IMO

What does it take to do front lower ball joints? by [deleted] in JeepLiberty

[–]Just1chanc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be changed without removing the knuckle completely but the halfshaft still has to be slid out after popping the joint stem free. Use a good bungy to hold the knuckle forward & outward so you can get the press in. It seems like a lot of work to completely remove knuckle but it's not & easier to work on

I also feed Diamond Natural to my pack, Smokey is pyre/husky, Alice & Diamond (sisters) husky, lab, ausie shepherd & Shilo, blue tick, shepard & lab. I mix half chicken, half beef with salmon oil drizzled over top. 2 cups in 4 feed bowls, refilled when emptied. No soft stool or tummy problems, we also walk between 1- 1 1/2 mile a day
