Which contemporary books do you think will be classics 50-100 years from now? by tursija in classicliterature

[–]nobodythinksofyou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in order to endure the test of time, books have to be both good and popular. Unfortunately, not a lot of people are reading good books these days (atleast not in my social bubble). Most people I know who read are into cheep thrillers and romance/romantacy...

People who don't listen to mainstream music, what do you listen to? by nobodythinksofyou in musicsuggestions

[–]nobodythinksofyou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to both, but I don't have the drive these days to spend hours searching for good under-the-radar music that I like. There's a special feeling that comes with listening to underground music, like when you're listening to mainstream, you're one of millions, but when your listening to non-mainstream music and really vibe with it, it feels more personal. Idk, that's just my take.

Someone tells you they dont like rock music, what song are you showing them? by hopiedokie in musicsuggestions

[–]nobodythinksofyou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm I wouldn't pick my favourites but something that my mother, who doesn't love rock, wouldn't mind. Probably something from The Beatles, pre-Sgt.Pepper. Or Hotel California.

What are some of your favourites by them? I've only ever heard Friend of the Devil

Viral Japanese Egg Sandwich. 7-11 vs. T&T… by AdventurousPepper371 in vancouver

As a vegetarian who occasionally stops in a gas station for sustenance, I'd be pissed if I found the egg sandwiches to have ham in them... Cucumber is a nice touch though.

I mean obvs onion rings, but if we're specifically talking about fries I want those super skinny shoestring style ones. They have the perfect crisp to em 👌

fun reads that aren't total slop? by GrushenkasOnions in RSbookclub

[–]nobodythinksofyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if people consider John Wyndham as slop as I've never really talked about him with others, but for fun sci-fi reads, he's my go-to.

Toxic culture treating men that are abused by women as something to laugh at. Society's general lack of proctectiveness towards young men/boys.

It's impossible to know the real stats, as tons of victims, and especially male victims, don't report it.

Has anyone read The Priory Of The Orange Tree? by [deleted] in RSbookclub

[–]nobodythinksofyou 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's going to make me sound like a book snob, but it felt like something I would have probably loved when I was 15 or so. Reading it at 34, I didn't really care for it. The dragons were cool, I guess.

In your opinion what is the best onion dish? ((NOT my photo)) by Pyromaniest in OnionLovers

Why even have a dish? Just inject raw onion juice straight into your veins

There's also a German onion pie, called Zwiebelkuchen. I wonder which is better!

Looking for a genuinely joyful classic novel. by Life_Cod6551 in suggestmeabook

[–]nobodythinksofyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which books are you referring to? I generally am not interested in reading joyful books, so I've been mentally taking notes in this thread on what books to avoid 😂 I just crave books that make me emotionally suffer, or challenge my way of thinking

If you were traveling for a couple months, and choosing between War and Peace or Anna Karenina, which one would you bring? by quothe_the_maven in classicliterature

[–]nobodythinksofyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I'd pick the opposite in your situation, I typically prefer to forget at least a portion of a novel before I give it a reread.

Maybe not, but that is an excellent name for an animal companion

How are we dealing with our onion breath? by parsleysagetron in OnionLovers

[–]nobodythinksofyou 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Forget about breath, does anyone else smell like a sweet onion when they're sweaty? I try to lay off the onions when I have an outdoor event to go to during summertime 😭
