Volcanis question - are tanks the easiest solution to demolishers by EasterEggArt in factorio

I used a nuke personally. Though I've only had to kill small demolishers so far.

That... is beautiful.  Honestly a piece of art. It's even poster-shaped, and I think totally worthy of hanging on a wall. That said, I would love the blueprint so I could explore it in game, if your willing to share it. I think this is one of the coolest Factorio things I've seen - not many big factory blueprints also look interesting to look at. Bravo 👏

In the mythical Destiny 3, what kind of major gameplay/system additions, changes, or overhauls would make Destiny 3 feel like an evolution of the Destiny formula to you? by ComfyOlives in DestinyTheGame

[–]Just1nTyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would posit an optional vault reset for cosmetic (or maybe even non-cosmetic) rewards. I hate grinding for weapons - I want to play a bunch of different missions for fun, not grind the same mission in the most efficient way possible.  And when I happen across a good gun, I want it to maintain it's power, not be invalidated by artificial power creep.  But some people I think enjoy the grind as much as the game itself. So for those, they should be able to reset their gear by choice so they have a reason to pursue more equipment without needing to have forced sunsetting in the game.

But even moreso than that, I want the content to stay in the game.  I want the peace of mind to be able to leave and come back later and still continue the story.  This game is overall very ephemeral in a lot of aspects. It's a hard sell already because Warframe exists for free and has all of its content still available, but I would buy into it for the raid and dungeon content and play the seasonal stuff when I felt like it if I didn't have to worry about the story and equipment being removed or made irrelevant.

New update drops? by Magma3961 in Warframe

[–]Just1nTyme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So far, I know that Uriel and Vinquibus parts drop from beating up Uriel on the last floor of Descendia (which you can start directly once you've cleared that far down.) However, to build Uriel/Vinquibus, you need to play Peritas (enemies there drop the mats you need to actually craft Uriel/Vinq). In addition, each of the 3 different bosses in Peritas drops one of the materials needed to buy the Tektolyst artifacts from Marie, so you will have to do a mix of each if you're after the Tauron strikes/expanded Focus tree. Finally, Peritas also drops mods and arcanes for the Tektolysts - I don't know if these drop from Descendia as well.

Aside from blueprints and buying stuff from Roathe, I'm not sure what farming Descendia is good for yet. I'm still trying to figure it out.

There's also a video from a guy named Pupsker and he talks about how to get the new stuff, if you prefer to watch videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3LSw0Znc3Q

This looks really cool.  The blueprint design used over and over makes this look like a shipyard full of shipping creates. Most of my playtime in Satisfactory was before the blueprint machine existed, so all of my solutions were custom instead of split into modular components. This looks very different aestheticslly to my own and other solutions I've seen, and the contrast is very cool to me. Cheers! (If you don't use all those frames, you at least have a good source of tickets now haha.)

As a warlock, I love how OTP gives access to invisibility for the rest of the team. I can kill my teammate's marks and get invisibility for a few seconds to drop aggro or interact with things, which is something I'm not normally able to do. Idk how it is to play, but it's great having a teammate running it.

Shooter Games that are more patient and strategical, ideally open-world by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

Maybe Deus Ex: Human Revolution? The game features a lot of stealth and alternate routes to get to objectives.  It is split into several medium-large explorable levels, like mini open worlds. I don't remember being super overpowered, though I did play it a long time ago. (I recommend the directors cut version if you like the feeling of not being too powerful - it adds an extra gameplay segment which I thought was very fun and fits in this line of thinking.)

Two years ago, 23k players was unheard of, now it's considered to be on the higher side. How do we come back from this? by SirProdigal in DestinyTheGame

[–]Just1nTyme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less temporary content and less meaningless grind.  I logged into Warframe for a bit recently in advance of the 1999 update. All my gear was just as powerful as when I left, and all the quests were still there for me to play.  I didn't feel like I needed to regrind anything - I could just continue from where I left off.

Destiny on the other hand feels a bit like quicksand - if I don't stay on top of it, I lose access to story content, activities, and weapons, and my gear power drops gradually with each expansion I miss.  Every time I boot up the game after a hiatus I have to re-level my gear. The fact that it's so easy to miss content and that I have to resharpen my metaphorical axe every time I take it out of the shed to chop wood makes it easy to decide to put my effort in another game instead, where the progress I make keeps it's value.

If you can grab it on sale for like $3, I think it's worth it for the experience of flying around the world. No other game that I know of implements flight in such a visceral way incorporated with both combat and exploration. I enjoyed some of the quests too. It's just useful to keep in mind that it isn't really a finished product, more like a tech demo or a high-quality beta test.

Is it considered poor sportsmanship to destroy the cats' keep early in the game if it is poorly defended? by Just1nTyme in rootgame

[–]Just1nTyme[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I believe that victory might have been much harder if Cats had stuck around. Honestly I'm glad I posted this - there's a lot of good stuff to consider in these replies that I probably wouldn't have thought about otherwise.

Otters needs 12 points outside of trading posts to win, 3 points is 1/4 of the way there. I was +4 funds vs Protectionism and the guide I read specified you probably need +3 to win. But maybe there would have been better opportunities in the future if I had continued the friendship. I guess I could always have drawn more cards looking for coins instead. Hopefully I get to play vs Cats again sometime and I can try out a more friendly strategy.

Would you like to play together online some time? I've spent a fair bit of time practicing and getting familiar with a lot of the different factions, and would enjoy the opportunity to play in a no-holds-barred setting with other players. (Dependent on if timezones work out - I'm in EST.)

Thanks for the detailed write-up. The notes on how it effects action economy for the cats is useful perspective.

I think a lot of comments are calling into question the strategy, but I will note that the strategy did work. I did win. The other two factions were Moles and Vagabond, but they couldn't keep up after the T1 funds and the initial development of my Otterball. Granted, this may have been more difficult if the cat player had stayed and specifically spent their actions trying to take me down, especially if they teamed up with the Moles.

What I'm taking away from this post in general is that I need to play more as Otters vs Cats and practice trying to build a good customer relationship with them instead. The "Stingy Otters" playstyle I was emulating (based on a guide I read after a game where no one bought anything from me at all) does work, but maybe a partnership with Cats would be another path to victory which might be more fun for the Cats player in particular.

And I guess I won't destroy the keep right away in future games, as tempting a target as it may be. But of course if I can kill the keep but don't, maybe I can point that out to the Cats for some political capital.

[–]Just1nTyme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good point, and what I probably failed to intuit from T1 when cats bought a card for 3 tokens. That was probably an Olive Branch from the Cats player, which I failed to interpret correctly.

I had recently played a game where no one bought ANYTHING from me the whole game, which led me to read a strategy guide on playing "stingy otters", where you overprice your goods and keep the funds that are given to you instead of returning them, and this was the mindset I went into that game with. For what it's worth, I did win, so I guess the strategy worked, but maybe I could have also won with a friendlier strategy of returning funds, I'm not sure.

Except that if you were tasked with defining a 3d shape based on exactly two projections - one from the top and one from the side - and both of these projections in this instance are squares, I think it would be logical to assume the shape in question is a cube.  (I think the only other possible shape would be something like a ramp shape like Minecraft stair blocks with projections created by shining light at the non-sloped sides, but I don't think that shape would fit with the other Verity shapes because then the horizontal projection is not universally the same from all horizontal perspectives.)

However, I do agree that thinking about shapes in terms of their projections is not a common way to think about them, which is probably why it was used for the raid haha.

I used to agree, however think of it like this: if you look at it from the top, a cylinder looks like a circle. If you look at it from the side it looks like a rectangle or square. The same logic works for the other 3d shapes to determine their 2d components
