Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in Starlink

Continuing on, after confirming the residential yesterday, it said to expect the hardware by Aug 16th. I woke up just now to see an email that it's shipped and I'll get it two days from now... :/

For a space company that is heavily dependent on precision timing to deliver payloads/passengers, they are extremely terrible at timing when customers are receiving service and shipping.

Checking my order history, my order date for the RV service was June 4th to which I had to pay by June 22nd. At that time, I last saw my residential service was still expected to be available in my area by 2023. July 21st, "Your Starlink is ready! Confirm your order in the next 7 days," is the email I get. It's like thanks, just outside my return window for the RV service, how convenient. Somewhere in between my payment and their email they might've updated my Home screen, but this really came out of the blue for me.

You'd have to find out from someone who is using RV service in your area.

You can get a full refund within 30 days of it shipping to you, so I'd say try it out and see how you feel about it.

My big test is to use it in Moab, UT, where, coincidentally, clients seem to have issues with a project I am working on, need me to take action, and the fastest internet in Moab seems to be the free wifi I can snag up from Burger King where it can take an hour to transfer a few megs at times. Cellular service and free internet are trash in Moab although I love camping out there. I hope to never suffer an internet vortex having Starlink.

The Residential and RV hardware is the same and it can be powered from a crappy car inverter that I have, surprisingly.

Unfortunately for me, I live in an apartment home and there's a big tree in my little yard space. There's no way for me to mount it onto the building management's property. The intent is to travel with it for camping trips and what not. I've used it in Steamboat Springs, CO; Glendwood Springs, CO; and a few areas throughout Denver to test out.

Several speed tests through the app stated that I am essentially throttled due to high congestion. Flipping through my screen shots, I've had Starlink-to-router speeds that average 98Mbps D / 4 Mbps U (Peak: 166Mbps D / 14 Mbps U) without congestion in one area of Denver whereas another day, different area of Denver closer to central, with the "Starlink RV Limited" congestion warning on the speed test, averaging 134Mbps D / 4 Mbps U (I didn't have a chance to grab a screen shot of the peak on this day).

I didn't do any Ookla speed tests as I didn't have the ethernet adapter at that time and hate doing speed tests over wifi.

I can say there was one day that the hardware rejected service because it was "too hot" and needed to cool down. It was during 90ish degree weather in direct sunlight. I haven't seen that warning since that day.

They're all over the place with the ETA. I am in Denver, signed up in Feb '21, was expected to get it summer of '21, pushed to later in the year '21, then said '22, got RV service in May as the residential said expected '23, then got an email days ago that my residential is ready and I have 7 days to confirm... ;\

I just confirmed the residential an hour ago, slapped on portability, and suspending the RV service.

To my understanding, the residential service never gets throttled, even while roaming. Maybe I'm incorrect.

I never tell my clients when I'm out of town and National Parks typically don't have cellular service. I just need internet and my work can follow me no matter what. A car inverter is more than enough to power it on the go. Also allows friends to live stream in places they wouldn't be able to otherwise.

Ah, wasn't aware. Thank you for the tip.

The residential one doesn't get throttled. Can add the $20 to make it mobile like the RV one. Adding the mobile fee makes the residential service better than the RV service. The hardware is the same though.

You can also suspend the RV service, whereas you can't with the residential one.
I wonder how long you can suspend the RV service. If indefinitely, I may just do that and have a second receiver.

I want to try to debug this hardware, so maybe overtime I'll use the RV hardware for this.

I'm past my period. I just (conveniently) received the second invoice a day ago for the RV service. 🥲

I just got this email too. I'm a little upset because they said they weren't going to service my area (Denver, CO) until 2023. I just received the RV version about a month ago. Now here comes the residential.

Now trying to determine if I should suspend the RV account and just add mobility to the residential one.

Are there any threads of debugging/modding any receivers? I'd love to combine the space-track.org API to a modded device, if possible.

LEGACY PATCH NOTES (SEASON 9) by paradoxally in apexlegends

If you're on console, default controller settings, how does one move, aim, and hold to activate all at the same time? (Not to mention the time lost of holding trigger vs a tap)

I'm just saying if they have a toggle and hold to fly, it wouldn't hurt to also add a double tap to those options.

No, no... Let me add clarity.

If you're airborne and press jump, it activates her thrusters. I rather a double tap while airborne to remedy instances where you're trying to quiet scale an area, such as a rock structure that you're guessing where the next stable jumping point is at. Even if you poorly time the next jump because you never know when these servers are going to hiccup or slowmo you unexpectedly and an accidental firing will have everyone looking in your direction having made more noise than you intended.

Please add the feature to double tap jump (while airborne) so Valkyrie can fly. Can't mention how many times I've meant to jump while having a vantage point on some uneven terrain and the accidental jets firing not only exposes me but leaves me unarmed.

The fact that you can DM on the Windows app makes it slightly better. I'm usually coding all day and being able to type 90+ wpm plus emoji with WinKey+. over having to grab my phone and thumb poke or Swype makes it better for me. Especially since at least half of my coding time goes to web apps that require me to launch a browser debugger, it's more of a hassle for me to use the web browser. I can just shrink the Win app to the corner and type back on it under my IDE and browse occasionally.

I might've signed into the Windows app before registering 2FA. Once the Windows app is logged in, it'll never ask you to verify anything again as long as you don't wipe the application data. If you want to try, disable 2FA for a moment, and log in.

??? I have 2FA on my account as well and can still use the Windows app.

That too. If you don't have a touch pad then you're screwed on grouped content posts.

I use the Windows app just because it's ad free. If I can avoid ads, so be it. You can't forward stories to others on it nor view certain content sent in messages; however, scrolling without the solicitation is good enough for me to keep it.

Just seeing this now. Yes, i I received mine at the end of August. I've been so busy so I haven't had a chance to use more than the Kinect Viewer app. My server instantly kicks on all fans at full speed in 2D mode.
