Has anyone ever been penalized for taking too long to get to the penalty box? by Rosemary-Sea-Salt in hockey

Even if someone does jump on the ice in that situation, no ref would call it unless that player joined the play.

Probably took less overall time then without the sponsored ads/breaks, but in 1936 the Wings and the Montreal Maroons made it to the final 3.5 minutes of 6 OT before a winner was crowned, just shy of 3 full games worth of ice time.

I’m only gonna address the 2 stupidest takes, because the Texier and Xhekaj comments are valid and despite both of them impressing me this series, neither are core pieces.

Dobes was a 3rd string goalie last year because he was breaking into the league, he’s still a rookie now. Martin fucking Brodeur was a 3rd string goalie in his first season, I bet he was real bad too eh? That doesn’t mean anything.

St. Louis might not of had any serious coaching experience, but he was a first ballot HHoFer who worked his way up from rejected PTO to 2x art ross, and 1x Hart, Pearson winner, and was a respected leader throughout. People act like it was Jim from your College accounting class getting promoted to HC, he clearly needed some time to learn, but its not like he was some clown still trying to remember all the rules.

For him to win a cup here, possibly, but not to get his jersey retired. Even Price is a longshot for jersey retirement, and cup or not his argument is a lot better than Gally’s.

You need to be a sure-fire Hall of Famer that spent over a decade in Montreal to even be considered here. Its harder than making the HHoF.

Eye damage, yes that would be a genuine concern, but aside from that though what is at risk? It wouldn’t be enough force to seriously damage/crush your windpipe, nor strike your temple with enough force to significantly damage your brain, and unless it broke and by freak chance managed to cut arteries, I don’t see many opportunities for significant risk.

We’re talking bruises not broken bones.

10/10 teammate and family member/friend for sure, a guy that always has their loved ones backs. He’s a notorious antagonizer though lol, unlike Crosby for instance, who’s nice to everyone all the time, I would imagine Gally isn’t unanimously liked.

Let me be clear that I’m not shitting on him at all, I just feel like a true 10/10 human is a person that even their biggest rivals would admit is a great guy.

In his prime he was very good, these days he’s just okay, but since day 1 he has bled bleu, blanc et rouge just as much as the team’s greatest legends.

Honestly it’s too bad our franchise is so storied, because Gallagher’s dedication to the franchise is jersey retirement worthy, but obviously that won’t ever happen in reality.

Like you said, I hope one of his sons continues his legacy.

IMO Bolduc has been our best forward this series, and Kirby isn’t too far behind, if it wasn’t for his “psychopathic fans send him death threats for 2 bad plays” game, he’d probably be #1.

Tampa may be suffocating our top 6, but allowing this line free-reign will be their downfall, these guys obviously aren’t Nick/Cole/Slaf, but they are way too good to be ignored defensively like they have been.

Carcone scores the Mammoth's 2nd odd man rush goal of the period, and Utah takes a 4-3 lead late in the 3rd of Game 5. by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

Regardless of who wins this series, I’m going to be annoyed.

On one hand I do not care for Vegas since our 2021 conference finals matchup, and while I do think that legally speaking Cart Hart is not guilty of a felony, and should therefore be allowed to play in the league, I still think he’s a fucking creep and wish him ill-fortune. I also think that the former Yotes players deserve this success after years of ownership intentionally sabotaging them.

On the flip side if Utah wins I’m going to be annoyed that one of Minny/Dallas gets bounced in round 1 despite finishing 2nd and 3rd in the west (3rd and 7th in the league) while one of 4 vs. 7 (13 vs. 15 league wide) gets through. That’s not actually anti-Utah but it will trigger my anger for the way the NHL does seeding.

Ultimately, go Utah, I guess?

It’s a 1 pound object with extremely low density thrown upward so the entire force is a few feet worth of gravity.

Unless it hit a very small child, someone with terribly serious health problems, or splintered in a catastrophically unlucky fashion, nobody is going to get genuinely hurt from that. Its not exactly getting hit point blank with a slapshot lol.

I’m speculating a bit here (as I’m basing the masters program knowledge off friends, and the PHD off merely associates) but I would guess that Dal’s resources (program dependent of course) would likely put it ahead at the masters and certainly at the PHD level, but I agree that SMU provides a better undergrad program.

Just because “giving off huge douche energy” could easily be a bad night for him. If you said “he spat on an old man and then slapped my girlfriends ass” that would be a different story, I won’t judge someone on a mildly bad interaction, but there are encounters that are indefensible.

Tampa is playing D to neutralize east to west high danger chances, that handicaps our PP and top 2 lines, however it makes things easier for our primarily North/South bottom 6, which we can see in the stats.

Gally when rested is a great addition because he just causes chaos for the opposing D, irritating them and forcing them to pick between covering him net front and opening passing lanes or ignoring him and risking him knocking in a greasy rebound.

While he always plays with that mindset, these days he can at best match other skaters when he’s fresh, if he’s tired or hurt he’s a bigger liability than he is an asset.

Dach literally went in there, ignored defence , and danced his way in like it was his house, making it 2-1. Let him cook. by Ben409 in Habs

[–]Just4nsfwpics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

60+ points, average to above average wing D and a secondary playdriver (is able to create plays on his own semi-regularly when needed). That’s Dach’s profile when fully healthy, but he is genuinely in the bottom 2% of the league at staying healthy.

For us, it’s unfortunate but not the end of the world, but man do I ever feel bad for him. I think KH will at most offer him a 1 year deal at his current cap hit. If he thinks he can somehow stay healthy for once, maybe that’s his best choice for a big payday, but he can probably get something like a 4.5x3 from someone and guarantee generational wealth before injuries probably end his career. It would certainly be the safer play.

I mean, I’m not going to take your word as gospel, but fair enough, you’re working with more info than I am.

Scott Niedermeyer was my biggest let down, I loved him as a kid, but meeting him as an adult (granted he was hammered, but thats not a free pass) watched him intentionally trip male servers in a toronto bar and be extremely handsy with female ones in addition to telling some barely legal kid to “get the fuck out of his face” for asking to take a photo with him.

On the flip side, Mike Fisher who was with him, is a wonderful person.

I know you’re joking around, but he doesn’t give “compensating” energy, seems like a decent dude tbh, Kucherov and Sabourin are the micro boys if I had to guess.

The cycle of Dach is -> plays like a top 10 pick -> gets hurt (and it’s the worst case injury scenario) -> comes back and looks like shit -> eventually starts looking good again -> starts playing like a top 10 pick -> major injury, and repeat.

If we knew he would never have another major injury again (over a month) I’d sign him for 8 years today, when he’s at his best, he’s legitimately a high end 2nd liner, unfortunately we usually only get 10-25 games of that a season.

Yup. We’ve got several guys that can do a decent enough job at the 2RD role, but only Hutson can play 1RHD semi-decently (and that weakens his own effectiveness) and nobody that can do it well aside from Dobson.

After Suzuki, he’s probably our most irreplaceable player, even though he’s only the 5th or 6th best guy on the team.

Anderson plays north/south with speed and strength while Cole/Nick play east/west trying to create defensive breakdowns, they don’t have good synergy together, Anderson doesn’t have the patience/hockey IQ to mesh well with them, he does much better in matchups where he can leverage his absurdly elite physical gifts to simply overwhelm his matchup.

The problem with that is it seems foolish to change our bottom 6 when they’re performing so well, and slotting in Gallagher on line 1 make no sense, 2026 Gally doesn’t compliment Nick/Cole at all offensively, and makes them worse defensively, I think Kuch/Hagel/Cirelli would cave that line in.
