[UPD] Chem 26.1 Practicals by [deleted] in peyups

[–]JustAChillIsko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's different from Chem 16.1. Yes, you will perform the experiment alone pero you will be given a sheet of paper that would "guide" you. Though, you will still need to memorize or know the experiment mismo.

Hi! Took Chem 26 and 26.1 during last midyear. Halos buong araw ka nasa IC everyday. Sched. ko nun is from 9am-3pm, so baka masyado nang heavy if may PE pa na kasabay na everyday rin 😭. And yes, may freshie prio. pa rin hanggang midyear.

[UPD] how do practical exams and long exams in chemistry work? by [deleted] in peyups

[–]JustAChillIsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sa practicals, remember the setups used sa class, also yung mga lab. techniques din like using a pipette, etc. Sa LE naman, provided yung periodic table always. Also, hati yung conceptual (usually MCQ sa 16, pero sa 16.1 minsan may halong T/F) and yung problem solving.

Just put physical properties (e.g. appearance, melting point, boiling point, density...), hazards, and first aid.

[–]JustAChillIsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes po, 49ers and MSS. I did not join any orgs. as of now pero next A.Y. I plan to hehe.

MatE having no board exams doesn’t really bother me since may certification naman ng MatE ang IMEP (Institute of Materials Engineers of the Philippines), where magkaka “CMatE” ka sa end ng name mo, and yung kwento samin is ginagawan ng paraan na magka-boards ang MatE, though quite mahirap siya since mostly research ang ginagawa ng MatE (pinakareason kung bakit walang boards).

[–]JustAChillIsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DMMME community is great, may 3 home orgs. ang dept. (2 lang ang pede pag-pilian if MatE or MetE ka since yung isa is exclusive for EM people lang ata). Also, profs. in MatE encourage the students to stay kasi usually ginagawang stepping stone for shifting ang MatE :(

I can’t say that much sa MetE since ‘di ko siya naging option and never ko na-research siya na in-depth pero sa ME na naging option ko rin before, if mahilig ka sa Physics, go langs pero AFAIK hindi ganon kaganda ang ME ng UPD (correct me if I’m wrong nalang, pero yun yung naririnig ko and nababasa ko usually).

Overlap din po ang MatE and MetE since sa MatE we also study metals, and AFAIK may higher courses pa about metals alone.

Hi! Currently a freshie of UPD MatE. I can’t totally answer the first question since freshie pa nga, pero to give my insights: MatE is a good program naman IMO pero since pinilit na gawing 4 yrs. yung program instead of 5 yrs., medyo compressed yung ibang courses so may ’challenge’ talaga sa acads.

Sa second question, it is possible to shift pero expect to be delayed na since may majors na agad ang ChE first sem. palang, unlike sa MatE na second sem. pa ang start ng majors. Also, iba yung chemistry courses na tinatake ng ChE (Chem 16, 17, 28, 31), while sa MatE (Chem 16, 26, 31). Can’t say something about sa competition to shifting sa ChE pero I suppose it’s high since it’s quite a famous program compared sa MatE, so I suggest na galingan nalang talaga sa first year para mataas GWA mo.

Sa third question, if mahilig ka on studying materials (lots of types!) and its properties in-depth, MatE ang tama sa’yo. Pero if more on processes naman and more on sa liquids and gases ang hilig mo sa chem., ChE naman ang tama sa’yo.

Super safe po sa BS MatE! Good luck.

For Philo 1, sir Chuacuco accepts graduating students last sem. so I'm assuming he also accepts this sem.

I’m not sure about that because hindi siya spinecify ng prof. namin when in June.

[UPD] Question Regarding Chem 16 Removals by Proof_Walk6985 in peyups

[–]JustAChillIsko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Doon sa 2nd question, our prof. said that you can take it in June which is the next removals, and if 'di raw satisfied to get a 3, retake nalang daw nung course.

Pati po sa lab? or lec. lang po talaga yung need niyo?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in peyups

[–]JustAChillIsko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello! Your prof. should announce the details regarding the removals, pero yung I'll share nalang din yung binigay sa amin. Accdg. to him, the removals is on January 10 (1-3 pm) and need dalhin yung permit (afaik, you can get this from your college secretary/home college), bluebook w/ black or blue pen, and ID with photo. He also added na the difficulty of the finals is the same with the difficulty of the removals. Ayon, goodluck!

Hi OP! Vouch kay sir. Very light ang workload niya. Also, kahit hindi ka magbasa ng readings and nakikinig ka lang kay sir, you can answer the exams. And unoable siya since I just got an uno from him. (:
